WIW - dress #1 from weekend loot

I wore the navy dress with the pick stitching today. The stitching is a taupe color so I added the taupe jacket (it is actually half of an Anne Klein pant suit I bought a few weeks ago but haven't worn yet). I am still loving these almost nude shoes but when I look at the pics I have to wonder if they are too matchy with the jacket. I also wasn't sure about accessories so went without. Should I have added a necklace? Different shoe?

My partner took the close up of the back detail and said the ripple effect wasn't there until the flash picked it up. I think this one may look a bit better in person than in pics.

I included pics of the dress, back detail (same on front) and with the jacket.

Dianthus what a stunning dress and the navy is very flattering on you. I like the mix of the jacket and the shoes. It's certainly no too matchy matchy for me. I don't think there is a need for accessories as ts is quite a strong look however if you wear earrings that could a nice addition. This looks very sophisticated, elegant and professional.

I love the fit and detail of the dress. It looks very businesslike with the jacket and after work nice without. I love the color too. Very nice. (and I think I've drooled over those shoes a few times already - not literally thankfully)

This dress is stunning, and I especially like it with the jacket! The fit of both pieces (dress and jacket) is very flattering on you, as if they were custom-made.

Thank you all very much. I will have to wear the suit one of these days. I ordered the last pink J Jill silk shirt to wear with it. I bought it because of the fit of the jacket even though it is a taupe (close to SSB).

The stitching detail really gives the dress a very feminine silouette, and the nude shoe is perfect! Agree with Deborah that maybe just gold earrings (if you wear) would accessorise well, or a scarf when it is cooler?

That is a sweetheart of a dress, and you wear that colour beautifully! Reminds me of Angie's old post on brunettes and blue... perfect!

And I think the shoes are just right with the jacket and stitch detailing --- they're not quite the same shade, so not exactly matchy-matchy, just well matched and really smart.

You look AWESOME! No accessories needed. There's enough visual interest and charm and femininity in this picture already --- the lines of that stitching are so flattering, and also unusual.

That dress is so cool. And the styling is perfect. The jacket is the right length and the shoes matching makes it look like you know what you are doing. I think avoiding match is is over rated. When I look at pinterest outfits, everything matches.

Hi Dianthus --

What a beautiful dress on you; as others have said, the stitching creates such flattering curves and adds that extra bit of interest to a classic shape.

FWIW I feel the point of skintone-y shoes is that they lengthen the leg and become sort of a non-factor, so I think it's fine to echo them another item (as you've done) or go with something completely different.

I do think repeating the taupes creates a more restful, subtle vibe -- which I like.

If/when the mood strikes, you could definitely add a complementary (or complimentary!) shade to shake things up, too. Enjoy your find!
