Friday I was uninspired. Until I saw Tina's cobalt and black ensemble:

Now, Tina's items were sleek, urban and high end. I was running errands in the suburbs, but I thought I might be able to pull something together. I swapped out the letter trimmed skinnies and Rag and Bone booties for a pair of straight leg ponte pants wrapped and tucked into tall black riding boots. I paired them with a lightweight cotton hi-low sweater in cobalt. Not as rich as the original, but casual and appropriate.

I did want to emulate Tina's simple, but strong approach. A simple silver bangle and nothing else. Because it was, well, freezing outside, I added a black anorak jacket and a scarf to keep me warm.

The next day, I kept the theme going. Cobalt straight legs, my boyfriend blazer and a black with white abstract polka dot shirt. No necklace, no pattern mixing.

These pants are a mid to higher rise, but I still debated on a tuck and belt. I'm rise-challenged these days --- favoring the higher rise, even liking the look of the tuck as long as the pants fit well. Still, this seemed simpler, and I'm still a little skittish about being perceived as frumpy. How are you all feeling about rise these days? What's most important --- body type or a modern appearance?
