Winter into Spring 2.23.21

Our weather went from -30’s C to +5C in the course of a week. Welcome to the prairies . In honor of today’s poll, and our lovely spring - like temps , I put this together for some running around today . Off white soles on the boots brightens them up , a light plaid stretch crinkle cotton blend pant is looking to be a 3 season piece for me , but I’m acknowledging the reality of February in Canada with a merino wool crew neck pullover and a boiled wool vest ( no coat needed today ) . Black/ gold bag , mask and chain , and jewellery . Far too soon for anything really spring-like , but one can look forward with hope !

Pants - Elissia ( Helena’s magic pants ? )
Pullover - Club Monaco
Vest - Pink Martini
Boots - Dolce Vita
Earrings - CM

No lipstick or face makeup , spot on nose courtesy dermatologist scraping and freezing . Lol.

Looking super cute as always!

My favourite parts of the look - (that make it, to my eye) - are the white soles of the boots and the bling strap on the bag. Break up the black, by adding brightness and depth to the neutrals. Nice ear bling too. Details are important

Yay for the magic pants - different brand but very similar style, and they look AWESOME on you.

This outfit and your last few WIWs - there is a sense of ease and confidence coming across that hasn't felt as present recently ... you seem like you are hitting your style stride again Lisa and looking amazing doing it.

Thank you so much , Helena, that's a nice thing to say . You know ....I feel a lot better these days - physically - and I guess it shows.

Glory - you know it. It's been above zero for a few days now, and the young guys are coming into the gym in shorts - cracks me up.

Mirjana - yes - +5 today. Minus 30 is nothing unusual in this part of Canada in February . We dress for it, our houses are built for it, and we have block heaters installed in our cars (which get plugged in at night). It's only as bad as one's attitude toward it - and thankfully it doesn't last forever

Angie - thank you. And I agree that when wearing darker neutrals, that jewellery and other accessories should bring in some lightness and spark. I'm rarely drawn to brights, and always make sure I have something on (jewellery or a scarf , and a statement bag) that brings dark colours out of blah territory . I now want dark shoes with white soles in every iteration I can find !

Minaminu - it's warm today, thankfully, or I'd be far more bundled up. -30C was last week - lol. That's very typical of Canadian winter

I've been admiring those boots on you and Janet and now seeing them paired with the chain purse that I own something similar too... well, it's a good thing I just got new Birkenstocks in the mail today to satisfy my wantsies

PS don't see a lot of Pink Martini on ylf. My favourite local boutique stocked a lot of it before they closed

Jules, I like Pink Martini too, and fortunately my favourite store these days sells it. I am waiting to pull the trigger on the platform black Arizonas with the big buckles. Why do they have to be $210?? I know I'll wear them to death though, so as soon as there is a whiff of spring in the air, I'm ordering What colour did you get?

Your skin is looking really good! I didn't realize you weren't wearing makeup until you said so.

Thanks for the tip about using accessories to add some lightness back into an outfit with lots of dark neutrals. My winter wardrobe is very dark, and I hadn't thought of using accessories to lighten things up.

Lisa, this is a great outfit and nice to hear that your temps are moving into warmer territory. A big thumbs up to the big buckle Arizona's from me because as you say you will wear them to death - and given how hard wearing they are, that will be often that at even $210 it is worth it (in Australia Birks are similarly expensive). You are really hitting a style sweet spot - rebuilding your wardrobe with items that are fashionable without being so 'on trend' that in two months time you will be over them.

Those boots make the perfect winter/ spring transitional item -- the white soles brighten them but they still keep your feet toasty and off the muck. Great choice! I like this simple outfit a lot and yay for spring temps!!

Thank you all for such great feedback and wonderful comments . I like knowing I’m headed in the right direction with my style . A common theme seems to be simple pieces with a statement shoe or accessory , and that’s something I can plan around .

Wow Lisa - this is sooooo elegant. First the boots are incredilbe and creating harmony with the pants/top. The long vest makes you look model thin, willowy and the handbag is classy. I really love you in this color combo, clean lines - it's plenty interesting but it doesn't distract from you. You look amazing and uber classy!! Love!!
