Will these Okala pumps stretch & new DVF wrap.

They are tight across the foot where they are piped at the edge. The toes don't feel squished though. It is the piping that I am worried may not stretch. I didn't plan on wearing these together as I thought it would be too much. They both were waiting on my door step so I tried both on together. Somehow I think it works. I really want these shoes to stretch. I ordered this dress & might wear it to the wedding instead of the coral one if it is cool weather. I am having trouble with footwear for the coral one. With this I can wear black chunky heel booties that I know are comfortable. They are a little casual but not too casual for the wedding I'm going to. I could wear the coral one for the rehearsal dinner with a black kitten heel, as it will be at a pub, no sinking in grass. I would love a white pump for that dress but I don't know if I will find one before then, and I just bought these & a black similar style. Maybe I should return these & find a comfy white pair. My lifestyle doesn't require me to have 3 pairs. If I were more like Emmanuelle Alt the black ones would be all I needed.

I ordered this dress online as they didn't have any in LA. I know I don't look awful but I have somewhat of a rectangular body, I am an hourglass with rectangular tendencies. I don't think it looks as good on me as curvier girls. Do you think there is a better dress style out there for me? It is hard to find long sleeved dresses. I could try the Kamali ones but they are synthetic & I haven't fallen in love with them. Maybe I should try one someday.

Oh, EmmanuElle, you are funny as well as pretty in your new pumps and dress! Dress looks gorgeous on you - and totally right for the wedding if it is cool. (Is it a different fabric from the other one?) Love it with the pumps. Gorgeous! I don't have an answer about the piping, alas. I think that type of thing usually wears in, but you need it to happen fast.

Suz the shoes are not for the wedding as they will sink in the grass. They just arrived at the same time as the dress. I have a sleeveless dress for hot weather & one of the 2 wraps will be used if it is cold. This wrap dress looks better with chunky heeled black booties, that I already own, that I know are comfortable than the coral one so I ordered it because it was easier than the shoe quest I have been on for the coral one. I will wear whichever other dress for rehearsal dinner with spiky heels, so it would be nice if these get comfortable but I also bought these. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mi.....personaliz I don't know if I should keep both though. Those are pretty shoes, too! Well...it can be tough to choose sometimes. Maybe the ones that are most comfortable?

I hear you on the wedding. Silly of me to have forgotten. That's why you were considering the wedge sandals with the coral dress. I think your booties will look good with this dress - you're right.

Your quest reminds me of my magazine awards banquet outfit search. First I decided on one outfit, but then the simplest item (a silk shell) became the most difficult to locate, and I had to consider a different outfit! I ended up with two great outfits in the end, so maybe you won't feel you are any worse off (except your bank account.)

I think the wrap dress looks great on you. The shoes are fun and I hope they work out. I don't have any advice on whether they will stretch or not.

I like the dress on you, Elle, it's very flattering! Also those Okala pumps are to die for. I totally hear you on the piping issue but I'm not sure if it would stretch! Can you wear them around the house a while to see if it stretches?

I have had trouble in the past with piping not stretching. Those shoes are super nice though.

I agree that the piping might not stretch. It doesn't look really-really tight--maybe bodyglide would help!!!

The dress looks fab on you as do the shoes. I'd also try wearing the shoes around the house as much as possible to see if they stretch and are comfortable .

If they are tight, I would worry more that the piping would pull out at the point where it meets the rest of the shoe.

Haven't read the rest of the comments, but is the piping real leather? Did you get them at Nordies? I think you can have them stretched for you. At least we did shoes stretching at the Rack.

DH hates dress. He hates leopard. I just showed him the pic. I'm over this wedding already. He said people in the UK will think it is trashy. I'm annoyed now.

Could you try sizing up in the shoes? The whole outfit looks fantastic to me. If you want to highlight your hourglass side, what about a push up bra, just for this dress. I rarely wear a push up, but I have one in my drawer because sometimes it really makes a dress or top work better.

Elle- love that dress on you and if the shoes wind up working they will be great together for a non-outdoor event.

As far as stretching the shoes go, I did some internet research on this. One way to stretch leather is to take a mixture of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol "paint" it on the interior of the shoe and insert an item of the right shape to stretch the shoe for awhile as it dries, repeating if necessary. These shoes are labeled "cow hair" or something like that. It may behave differently than leather and I wonder if the alcohol would dissolve glues in some shoes. I have done this technique with success on other pumps. I found an egg shape to be a good stretcher for the area you want to impact as the narrower part can go into the toe box and not alter that shape.

I doubt that the piping will stretch ... maybe half a size up? I love the dress! How could anything DVF be viewed as trashy?? I say keep

Good point about sizing up half a size in the shoe. I did in these and the ankle is fine, with more room for toes. I often walk out of the heels in shoes, while finding my toes cramped, even though they aren't particularly long. Go figure.

I'm from UK and I don't think the dress is trashy! It is a sophisticated monochrome print so to me it definitely looks stylish. The fit is fab! Love the shoes too! BTW still a heatwave here with no end in site and the ground is as hard as a rock. Even in spiky heels you may not dig into grass.

Oh dear about DH, because I really love the dress on you. You're enough of an hourglass to pull it off, IMO. I love the shoes on you, but I have my doubts about piping stretching. It's one of the most reinforced (with stitching) parts of the shoe. Rae has a good idea about having Nordstrom's stretch it for you. At least you'll know for sure after they try. Smashing shoe though, I have to say.

Both NAS DVF wraps are on my top picks list and you look KILLER in this one, Elle. WOW.

The shoes look perfect with it - but alas I do not think they will stretch.
