WIB: Two Dresses (Helmut Lang and Amanda Uprichard)

I think I've been lost in dress territory for a while now and have had a chance to get out of these woods and begin posting what I found and bought and plan to keep since the tags are off.

The first I spotted at Nordstrom a little over a month ago and it's a Helmut Lang jersey dress in the color, Eucalyptus, which I love. Thanks to the great work of beautiful Rae, I was able to find my correct size. The dress is so comfortable, even with its body con appearance, and it feels like a tee. I bought it for an upcoming trip to NYC and think it will pack really well. I've posted it here with several shoe and boot options. If you have a favorite or any suggestions, please let me know as I welcome your thoughts.
1 With nylons and nude pumps and 2 was earlier sans hosiery.
3 With Sam Edelman Okalas with Commando two-tone fishnets
4 With black suede Stuart Weitzman knee-high boots
5 With black and metallic leg warmers and black Aquatalia weatherproof knee-high boots (a bit odd, maybe, but I was thinking of either these or black leggings for warmth).

The second one is from Amanda Uprichard, and is a new brand for me. I love this, because it is 100% silk and it, too, is very comfortable. I find this will be a nice transitional dress from Autumn and then into Spring. I took a couple of outdoor shots so you could see the pretty blue color. I really didn't do too many shoe changes on this one other than the grey animal-print pumps in one photo.

Vicki, I tried a similar HL dress and it looked horrid on me. But look at you! You were made for this look! I love it so much.

The second dress is lovely too.

I love both dresses, but may have a slight preference for the Helmut Lang because it shows off your terrific figure to great advantage. I like both the nude pumps and the Okalas, which are slightly dressier. The boots look good and could be very practical. but I don't like them quite as much as the pumps. Unfortunately the hosiery doesn't show up well on my browser so I can't comment on it. I love the color of the Amanda Uprichard dress, a designer I'm not familiar with.

You look smashing in both of these dresses! They could become workhorses in your wardrobe. Enjoy wearing them!

Dress # 1 is my favorite and you just look stunning in it, but still relaxed and comfortable. Pic 5 is dynamite.

Both frocks are just beautiful, Vicki, Wow-Beautiful. 11 out of 10.

I love the way the first dress ruches over the bust in #2, and I like it best with the Okalas. I like the blue dress best with the belt and light cognac shoes. So sultry and elegant. You are a sight for sore eyes, pretty lady.

Wow, both are gorgeous! I love the color on the second one, and silk is always a winner. The fit of the HL dress is fantastic and the ruching works really well.

Both dresses are stunning on you! I like the Helmut Lang best with the Okalas and the blue dress both loose or with a belt. The longer back hem really gives it a special look. The color and fluid fit are beautiful on you.

Well the Helmut Lang dress was just made for you. I love it with the Okalas and also the knee high boots. The blue of the AU dress is just stunning on you. You look gorgeous all around!

What gorgeous dresses, both of them! #1 is a great choice for NYC, and all the stylings are terrific! I think #4 is my favorite, although #5 is probably best for NYC in winter. The blue dress is arty and fab, and the color is outstanding.

I love them both on you Vicki! Stunning. So what colour is Eucalyptus? Dark green? I can't tell from the pic. The second dress is the most amazing colour, divine.

Holy cow woman! These are some fantastic dresses. I really love the first one, it really shows off your figure! The second is such a lovely color--and silk! How divine. I'll defer to Angie's choice for shoe choices with these. Now I need to faint delicately onto my divan and be fanned until I come to! *waving to my cheetah Okala twin*

Wowza Vicki! You look beautiful in both of these dresses - you know, I think that you could wear any of the footwear you have featured in these photos and they'd all work great! Just depends on your need for warmth I guess! You know, I really like the 2nd dress unsashed. I love the arty, creative vibe it gives off when it's oversized and loose - as opposed to the belted version which is more traditionally classic. Also - the colors are good on you - but, the blue in that 2nd dress - Perfect!

You look fantastic in both of these! I am blown away. The fit of the Helmut Lang is just perfect on you and the color and drape of the 2nd dress look so luxurious. My favorites are the Okalas and tall boots for the 1st dress and the tan shoes for the 2nd.

Angie, I am so stoked that you like the frocks, because I was veering into uncharted (for me) territory.

Una, Catnip and Unfrumped, thank you, and Una, I understand about the HL fit issues, because I jumped up a size in this one and still deliberated for some time.

Rachylou, Caro, Mia and MuseumGal, I appreciate the feedback on the dress and shoes. I know the neutral ones will work and on another day I may even toy with booties.

Debora and Jacky, I too, fell in love with the color of the blue silk dress. Even though I can wear blue, I have to watch out for some blues that seem drab on me.

Joy, Janet, Parsley and Shevia, thank you for your comments, and you know, Janet and Shevia, I think it's a toss-up as to the Okalas and the boots, as I liked both looks. I'm guessing ballet flats wouldn't work, unless I did some type of legging layering, but that may be asking too much of the dress.

Beth Ann, Deborah, Claire and Marley, I'm happy you can see the styling and wearability in these two! Deborah, "eucalyptus" is a dark and muted gray-green and while it's dark, I found it to be a nice change from black or navy. Claire, my shoe twin, I think the Okalas add some interest to this "solid" and I'm tipping my hat to you on the silk fabrication of the blue dress. I'm learning to hold out and read those labels on the lower left side of the garment as I saw you doing over and over again at Shoptoberfest. Marley, yes, I'm tempted to go "unsashed" around town and give it a go. I like the idea of doing "arty."

Carambola and AJ, I'm delighted you like the fit and drape of both. They are now ready for wear.

I love how the first dress shows off your great figure, and the blue, THE BLUE, of the second one. I don't remember what belts you own. . .I'm wondering how a non-self belt would look.

That HL is to die for on you!!! Triple exclamations points! Love #5 because it looks warm and not expected. I also love #3 if you want to be more dressy. The blue dress is super-fab too.

Vicki, these are sensational on you. What terrific finds. The Helmut is just amazing, and if it also packs well, what could be better? That green is so sophisticated. I also love the silk. The colour is so rich.

The Okalas look great with the Helmut, but if you are travelling soon and the weather holds, you might be wearing boots (assuming you will not be indoors all the time.) Weather is cold, snowy, damp, slushy. Not nice for bare shoes. Luckily the tall boots will also work.

The silk dress is wonderful. I love silk shirtdresses but they often don't fit quite right. This one, maybe because it's really a shift rather than a full button-down, has such a perfect fluid cut. It's instant class.

Vicki - you look absolutely, totaly and divinely stunning. The HL dress looks like it was made for you!! I know it's body con but it reads as elegant, skimming and chic. I also love it best with the okalas and the SW boots with the fab leopard clutch!! Wowza!! May I ask a ? Did you need to size up? I have a couple of HL jackets (amazing tailoring) but I needed to go up a size. In a fitted dress like that I was even thinking of trying 2 sizes up since it would be an internet order. I had not heard of Amanda Uprichard either but gosh she makes a lovely dress!! The ink blue is wonderful with your coloring!! It just make you glow!! Kudos to helper Rae!! Great choices!! I hope you adore wearing them!!

PS Vicki - I am totally crushing on that HL dress. Is that the Nova dress in eucalyptus? Is it gray or green? Nordies does not have it but neiman's does. Interested in what you think of fit. Many thanks!!
