We ve been having a heatwave here in the UK.
l know that those of you in hotter climes will probably roll your eyes at our inability to cope with a few days of what you get for months but we really are not set up for it in this country .
Our houses are insulated to keep in the heat ,not keep it out and even our summer clothes are somewhat thicker than they are in other countries.My mother,who has lived abroad,talks of tropical weight cotton but it’s practically impossible to find and even our linen seems to be quite thick .This is the first summer l can remember when l haven’t carried/worn a cardigan over my clothes.
l ended up in homemade tencel shorts,a very thin cotton shirt from Banana Republic and accessories .
l was stopped by two people who asked me where l had got my hat and l was told l looked cool!!A win for the sweaty middle aged lady!
What do you wear when it’s too hot for clothes but you have to go out in public?Can you get lighter weight clothing where you are ?Any brand recommendations?
