New cardigan! . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

You all helped me with this cardigan a few months ago. [I note why the sizing issue might have happened at the bottom of this post.] So thank you!! After your help, I ripped back to the bust/chest increases and reknit the smallest size. With such a fluffy yarn knit at a relaxed gauge, it took very little time.

I love the yarn so much. It's very soft, fluffy, and lightweight. It's also extra warm due to its large alpaca content. I really love the color. Sadly, the company discontinued this colorway, so I can't get anymore. Thankful I got enough for this sweater <3

The length of the cardigan hits just at my waist, as our fabulous leader Angie suggested. Which is what I wanted too, and prefer most of the time. I didn't really have to adjust too much to make that happen; I added maybe 1-2 inches torso length before continuing with the waist ribbing.

I plan to wear it over my chiffon blouses and various dresses. It is a very close-fitting cardigan, particularly the upper arms. There's not much ease to wear puffy sleeves made of heavier fabric under the sweater--which is most of my dresses ha! But, I'll make it work. I altered the lower part of the sleeves to make them a small, gentle blouson/bishop shape. (Essentially, I skipped shaping the sleeve to a taper.) If my weight fluctuates, it will likely show more.

My favorite part of it is the lace detail down the shoulder line. (See photo 3.) It's subtle and yet, so pleasing. It was equally pleasing to knit.

I'm still waiting for cool enough weather, but it's coming. We had cool weather last week for a few days then back into the 70s. Another week or two it will likely be cool enough to wear this.

What do you all think? Anyone else ever knit this pattern or with this yarn?

Make details:
Yarn: CaMaRose Snefnug, color 7832 Rust Red (discontinued color way)
Pattern: Felix Cardigan by Amy Christoffers
Buttons: vintage 1940s, molded plastic

Regarding the original sizing issue. After careful re-reading, I saw that the designer directed to measure for the cardigan around the upper bust, at underarms, not the full bust as is traditionally done by most knitting patterns. And sure enough the smallest size is 39" upper bust, and my upper bust at armpits measures 39". That said, according to the schematic, the sweater should have worked at 43" size; it clearly didn't. My working gauge was spot on with the pattern gauge, so it was not a gauge issue. I'm not really sure what was going on. This designer tends to design patterns that are rather boxy or oversized, with no waist shaping. It's possible she writes a lot of ease into her patterns, without including that or mentioning that. Now, what is very odd, is the schematic should have shown that. But again, it does not. If and when I ever knit any of her other patterns, I will probably knit a smaller size from the start.
