What brand do you wear that you don't see much on the forum?

I received a Soft Surroundings catalog in the mail yesterday. I have two items from there - a black skirt and a longer layering tank. It got me thinking that I don't see it on the forum much at all. In fact, it's not a store available on finds, so I figure that means it's not requested. I consider it rather pricy, but not really out of bounds for distinctive pieces. More waist surrendering, can skew boho lite, but that style fits plenty, although I don't see myself as their core customer.

I shop quite a bit at Macy's, a brand that many seem to dislike for their local store. I like the online selection more than what's in the store, but appreciate that I can return to the store if things don't work out.

I'm always curious about where people are shopping for some of their core wardrobe that isn't as popular on here.

Most of the places I shop are discussed a lot on the Forum: Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Gap, Ann Taylor.

I do sometimes shop at Belks and Landsend but they are the exception rather than the norm.

Sometimes I worry that I am in shopping rut.

I'm a big fan of Nick & Zoe. It's available from Nordstrom but it doesn't seem to be here on the Forum that much.

Sterling - I am not worried about being in a rut, but I'm sure that there must be lots of brands that are working for people quietly in the background.

Linda - I don't own anything of that brand, but I do like the look of many of their products.

Not a brand but a designer...I have a few items from Comrags and over the years I have loved many of their clothes. Intelligent Canadian design with closet longevity.

A Canadian brand called Marks Work Ware House. Men's and women's (mostly) work clothes for 'heavy' work. Levis jeans and their house brand called 'Denver Hayes'. Flannel shirts, t-shirts, chinos, work boots, Carhart and other heavy work/field coats. Scrubs, work boots and shoes.

However, they also have a selection of 'work casual' for men and women, and have snagged designer Alfred Sung to do a line for them. They have a mid-rise jean/pant style that fits me perfectly. They make nice undies and socks and cotton knit sweaters.

Sometimes they do something amazing, like one year suede jean style jackets for $99 (I got one in pistachio and one in beige). Last year they had some really good footwear. They also do some 'made in Canada' products that I like to get behind.

They earned my love 'back in the day' when I could get pants with 38 inch inseams for my 6ft 5in DS!

Suz - I like the prints they carry.

Runcarla - sounds like they have some good quality basics, and occasionally a star piece. A 38 inch inseam can't be too easy to find either!

Gear. In particular, Ibex and Icebreaker. I love merino for all but the hottest days, and some of my most flattering tees and tanks have been from these two companies. Oh -- and Ibex is local to me, which is certainly part of why I like them so much.

Also, vintage denim. My body type is apparently the exact opposite of most contemporary jeans, so old Levi's are my best friend. But I seem to be in the minority on this one!

I like a company called Cut Loose. I also like Macys for clothes (not service, alas). And I have the usual GAP, Loft basics.

Elle -- I used to have a gorgeous pink linen skirt from Cut Loose. It suffered an unfortunate bleach stain and now it's a pair of pink dinner napkins. Excellent quality linen!

Most of the brands I buy are NZ or Australian (with the exception of things like jeans and sports gear (Nike, UnderArmour etc).

One brand I like is Ricochet, and I just discovered a new label called Tuesday.

At the moment the chain store I am having success with is Witchery.

Delurked, this is a great question, I think, because I love to shop online. Here are a two places I like shopping at that offer decent quality and value when their stuff is on sale.

Peruvian Connection, natural fibers with a boho vibe. I have ordered two dressy tees from them and have loved both. Quality is excellent.

Sundance Catalog, western-themed boho. Also strong on natural fibers. Alas, shipping is exorbitant, but sometimes they ship free. And sometimes they offer 30% off outlet prices which is typically when I pull the trigger.

delurked -- I get the Soft Surroundings catalog too. My single purchase -- a wonderful turtleneck poncho that I bought several years ago. I have bought a lot of clothing from J.Jill over the years -- particularly basics. I bought two linen dresses from them recently. A dark blue embroidered shirt dress and a simple black linen shirt dress.

Staysfit, LP - it seems like quality is declining in lots of the apparel market. I wonder if gear is holding up better due to customer demand that it does.

LP - I always looked horrible in vintage denim, back when it wasn't vintage. I wanted so much to wear Levi's and look as good as I thought others did. I confess I still have a bias against the brand (for myself) due to it. I much prefer denim with stretch and some of the other fabrications besides cotton, even if it doesn't last as long.

Also, I don't own any merino. If I was doing more traveling to colder climates, I may get a couple pieces, as I read they seem handy for layering.

Elle - I looked at Cut Loose, and it seems they sell to smaller, local boutiques. I see some not too far from me. I will take a look next time I have a chance to be in one of those stores.

Sal - I am always curious, so will take a look at some of your brands.

Greenjeans - I worked for many years in the catalog, and am familiar with Peruvian Connection. I will peruse them occasionally, as I thought their quality looked good. I have been a customer for years of Sundance, sometimes for their accessories and jewelry. I love the photos of their clothing, and have had very mixed success with their fits. I do try to get stuff on sale with them, and can see why you would want a sale for both of these companies. If you like Sundance, you should take a look at a catalog company called Sahalie. If you do like them, wait for an online promotion code before ordering.

Jill58 - many years ago I used to shop at J Jill. I'm not sure if they used to skew younger or not. I think they have a lot of basics and coordinates with a few prints each season, and before I got a couple cotton dresses at Boden this year, I did consider them for summer dresses. I like that their dresses seemed to have some sleeves and reach the knee. Plus they carry talls. I haven't tried them on in a long time, but agree they're a place to consider. The dresses you got look like they would work for a lot of occasions.

Most of the brands I like just don't get mentioned on here very often. But then again, I'm kind of weird LOL

I like brands like Isabel Benenato, Barbara I Gongini, Margiela, T by Alexander Wang, some Helmut Lang... Oddly, I really love Agatha Ruiz de la Prada--her stuff is so much fun, even if most of it's a bit bright for me to figure out how to wear.

I also like several Etsy sellers/shops: Loft415 for minimalist pieces; Kobieta for bespoke casual pieces (also eco-friendly fabrics); artaffect has several pieces I want to acquire; MarcellaModa for really neat/different pieces; and metamorphoza has a lot of interesting things.

Lots: Israeli designers Maya Negri and Ronen Chen (mostly older stuff) for clothes and shoes by Daniella Lehavi and Couple Of.
Various pieces whose designers you will find on Yoox and not very many other places: Stephen Green, High by Claire Campbell, Pamela Milano, Leer, Ilaria Nistri and others.

Cindy - I like more minimalist looks on others, but only occasionally on myself. Etsy really individualizes things, and I should look at it more for unique items.

Shevia - I've never shopped on Yoox, but see it mentioned some.

Now that I'm working at OSKA, I wear a lot of the clothes, and I love them. They are on the expensive side for me.
I have one item from Desigual that I really like, and I'm intrigued by some of their things, though mostly they are too maximal for me. I still admire them.
I like Stella Carakasi, too, a designer I've seen mentioned here on the forum occasionally.

Laura - I have some work out clothes from Target I really like, but I've had less success with regular clothing. I do look occasionally though.

I have a sweatshirt from Target (Darth Vader), and also some exercise clothes.

I also have a couple tops from Nic + Zoe. Their things are really nice. I bought a skirt and some sweaters but returned them because they didn't work on my chubby self, but now I think they would look better on me. The skirt was gorgeous!

I've been buying pants at Kohls. Lee, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Croft and Barrow, the house brand. The quality isn't bad, and the price is great.

JAileen - I've periodically found things at Kohls, including one top this summer. I also have workout clothes from them. I've found a few things that work for DD there too.

Oh yeah, the kohl's brands too, and J.C. Penney. Definitely some of the most frequently bought and worn items in my closet.

I enjoy watching Isaac Mizhrahi on QVC too - I never buy any of his stuff because it's too preppy/twee for me, but he's delightfully charming on tv.

Delurked, I love yoox and cannot recommend it enough. It's how I can afford some of the high end brands in my closet. Well, yoox and consignment/thrift. And I love Etsy for unique pieces.
