Hi; I've been lurking for a few months (huge time suck!!!) and finally decided to join. Meanwhile, I've purchased seven of those Nordie layering Ts and another three Nordie camis that Angie recommended. I still have yet to wear them all! My daughter is leaving for college this fall, and I decided I needed to up my style quotient and figure things out without her feedback and critique. Plus, while she is around, I will get her guidance on taking pictures and uploading them. This may take buying a tripod and a lot of experimentation. . . .A further impetus is that I've recently lost about ten or so pounds which isn't a whole lot, but since I seem to have shrunk to 5' 1", it means shrinking close to one size. I have come to realize that even though I can fit into my old clothes, it doesn't mean that I OUGHT to wear them -- even if they aren't worn out!!! In the past few months, I finally, finally got rid of my old, non-slouchy pleated trousers and big shouldered blazers and all those boxy Lands End turtlenecks. I still have a few, um, vintage (25-30 y.o.) items that I would like to wear with YLF approval.
Particularly this year, Angie's blogs have resonated with me, like buying clothes for an imaginary lifestyle. She made me wonder whether I have been taking PPP to an extreme, since recently, I haven't found pants, skirts, or dresses I've liked in 10, 12, or more years. But then on Saturday, I found the perfect dress (for me) at Ross for 1/4 or 1/5 the price I was willing to pay, and it made waiting worthwhile -- ponte knit so comfy and fairly structured, zebra print so fun, long enough to cover most of my elephant knees, and not that drapey knit stuff which is everywhere and absolutely so not me at all.
I feel like Rip van Winkle or Urashima Taro waking up from a long, long sleep. Until a few months ago, I didn't know what booties or shooties were, and that even non-teens were wearing skinnies and tucking them into boots. Yeah, just call me, "Oblivious." Maybe I should change my screen name?
