Thank you, Angie.

Hi, been lurking for a couple of weeks now. Just turned 40 this spring and then moved from my mountain lifestyle in CA to the beaches of FL and struggling with where that leaves me, fashion wise. I find myself posting pics on Facebook asking my friends what they think. This is probably a better place for that

Welcome Mo! Look forward to seeing some pics!

Thanks Thunalata! Unfortunately the pics are all near misses or just plain misses! I hope to have something post worthy to show someday.

Mine are a bit hit and miss too - mostly a bit out of focus... People are always really helpful no matter the quality so don't be put off!

You don't have to just post perfect outfits. I think it's helpful to post pictures to get suggestions about how to improve an outfit.

I can't figure out how to embed a photo into a forum post? Can anyone help me?

I already crossed that bridge and posted a questionable outfit on the age appropriate page. I found a spot at the bottom of the post to upload a photo after attempting to put in a link that didn't work.

Hi! I've been lurking for a while now, and I'm impressed with the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you fashion-savvy ladies!

I was planning a long-overdue closet clean out this weekend, and fortuitously stumbled upon your great website, Angie! Perfect timing. I've been reading it obsessively all weekend as I purge and reexamine my clothes. I've read countless magazines, fashion advice books, and blogs..but I've never found any as helpful, down to earth, and comprehensive as YLF. Thank you so much!! I'm 49 (turning 50 in the fall) and, of course, struggling with trying to look good without looking too young. YLF is my go-to site from now on!!!

Well it is one of the best forum and i am enjoying there so much and i appreciate your idea

Hi all

Well three more days before I am fully an active member, I cant wait to put some pics up and receive comments and suggestions from everyone. I have been reading some of the comments and I am really impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the members. I came across this site by luck and I am really excited.

looking forward to sharing my fashion ideas with you guys.

Have a great day

Hi guys newbie here...so happy I found this forum!

Fantastic blog post.

I happened onto your site when I was Googling information about wearing skirts...something that I have stayed away from for many years. Now that I've learned the correct style for my body type, I'm ready to jump back into them. I also found the article on belts and just ordered 4 of them!!

I LOVE this site - and have spent the last two days reading everything! This will definitely be one of my daily stopping places.

Thanks for all of your wonderful information!!

I hope we will have great time here. and I'll try to contribute to forum develop more.
I'm positively looking forward to the forum and its members,
hope all will guide, share and help me to increase my knowledge. Nice to meet you..

Hi!!
i love your site, i know we differ in age by much...im 17! but we agree in style quite a bit. I am a minimalist mostly, very classic style with a touch of equestrian at times.i ADORE tailored looks and outfits that are clean. (thats the only way i can describe it, as clean. i hope you understand. I do have a serious question though. How do i dress casual? I am often times overdressed than my friends, and when i dress down ( a tshirt and my GAP FLARE (yeaa!!!!!) jeans) they frown upon it! how can someone with my style find a way to dress casual? esp to school!

example of my style: my first day of school outfit: Peach/pink blazer from forever xxi, with a tissue tee inside. and my gap straight leg jeans. jewelry: rose colored pearl braclets and my diamond earrings (i wear them all the time), ill probably end up wearing my gold chain necklace bc my mom will yell at me to put one on. Shoes: probably my silver/grayish leather flats that have a brown buckle on them...very sperry top sider looking.
i adore my outfit for the first day of school, my friends will probably call me too dressed up for college. BUT. dont be offended Ms. Angie, i hate when people wear a pair of miss me jeans with a brand name tshirt and say that thats fashionable and the top of the line. its jeans and a tshirt! then they complain when i wear jeans and a tshirt bc my jeans arent rock revivals or miss me's but they are gap.

THANKS!!!!

I am so happy to have found this site! I have already enjoyed quite a few articles and decided that the forum is full of kindred spirits.

Mimi, Like you, I just found this site and am thrilled. Angie radiates such a positive, energetic spirit about the topics that many of us love. I also really like the photos her husband, Greg, takes as these are really useful.

One of Angie's recent photos, with friends at the Queen Mary Restaurant, captivated me, because it so naturally displayed her fashion sense in a setting that we can relate to and enjoy, which is dining out with friends.

I was looking for a local group, and while this one is online, I agree that this forum does feel like a wonderful group of kindred spirits!

you have a wonderful blog and it's nice to read them. i would like you read more of it.

I am so excited to have found this site. This is a great opportunity for me to meet new people and talk about what I love the most: fashion. I love your blog and you are an inspiration to me.

Hi..Stumbled across your site while searching for fashion do''s and don'ts for those of us approaching 50. Love to hear from other's in the same boat. I love skinny jeans, boots, heels, scarves and costume jewelry...but always fear looking like an old lady trying to hold on to her youth. I swore I would never look frumpy.....

I guess I am experiencing a bit of a "mid-life" crisis ... I have decided to learn how to ride a motorcycle and convinced my husband to buy bike...I loving it.

Hello Angie and all of the YLF community! I'm a newbie - just joined today after weeks of lurking! So happy I discovered this site - heaven knows I often need advice to avoid looking too garish/dated/casual/short/pudgy! What an art (and science) dressing can be!!! Looking forward to lots of great style help & support!

all seem very busy here. keep up ur good job.

Hello all,
Newbie in Toronto... loves everything fashion... so happy to be in the company of all you fashionistas, love to see the outfits on real women, looking forward to sharing myself...much love from the Tdot.

hi everyone,
i'm a newbie today. i found you when looking for an answer to my question if you could shorten heels on shoes!! i think i'm going to really like it here. nice to meet new people.

Hi all, I've been reading and posting occasionally for a couple of months but I'm still a complete newbie. I'm 44, married, have a 10-year-old, and work full time. I live in Seattle so I especially love that Angie's recommendations are appropriate for our climate. I'm mostly interested in figuring out the challenge of dressing myself stylishly when my weight yo-yos up and down rapidly between a 12 and 18 in any given year, depending on how crazy my life is and how much I'm exercising. Hard to justify investment dressing when I can't be sure what size I'll be in 6 months, much less 5 years from now. I also have ridiculously fussy feet that need a lot of support and cushioning, compounded by a bad ankle and knee that make it difficult to balance in any heel higher than 2.5 inches even in the rare shoe that doesn't hurt my feet. These days I have more trouble than ever dressing myself non-frumpily. But despite all this, I'm determined not to give up on style, and I'm learning so much here.

One of these days I'll work up the courage to post a photo and ask from some personalized style advice. Oh, and am I the only one who rarely wears skirts/dresses but doesn't own skinny jeans or slim trousers? I love them, but I have tried and failed to find a pair that doesn't look ridiculous on me (I have big thighs and odd-shaped legs) so I have reluctantly given up on that look. Oh well.
