The last of the 3 back to back weddings with brides who are all part of the same social group occurred this weekend, and despite some slightly drizzly weather (fortunately, the outdoor ceremony was covered and the rain was not heavy), the wedding celebration was every bit as fantastic as the first two were.

This wedding took place in the late afternoon at a beautiful country club in the middle of a golf course. We were glad to see our friends who had attended the first two weddings (most of us had worked together a few years ago, just around the time B. and I started dating.) I was also close with the bride while we were growing up, and was happy to have a chance to visit with her family and with other good friends from our childhood/Girl Scouting/concert band era.

The music and wine kept flowing late into the night, and we all ended up a bit giddy. While the bride was an absolute knockout in a lacy ivory strapless fit-and-flare gown, her father truly stole the show grooving all night on the dance floor in his military uniform. He was mesmerizing to watch!

While I'd considered wearing the yellow/gray ikat dress to this final wedding, I ultimately decided that I'd pay tribute to the bride's favorite color again and pull out the new faux-wrap dress. (What do you call this color, anyway? I think of it as dark periwinkle.) I popped on a long knotted, wrapped strand of pearls; nude textured microfishnets; orange ECCO pumps; then grabbed my mustard handbag, and was set to go. There's nothing easier than a dress that does all of the heavy lifting for you!

B. and I called it a night around 10:30 after the bride and groom checked out, and took home some sweet little succulents as favors. I tend to have good luck with low-maintenance plants that don't whither right away if you forget to water them for a couple days and don't complain when there's little sunlight in fall/winter, so I'm hopeful that I can keep these little ones going if I re-pot them.

(Edited to add a photo, #6, that one of my friends took at the end of the night. We were supposed to take sparklers to see the bride and the groom off, and there were extras left over afterwards - so we each grabbed a few and snapped some Polaroid sticker photos for the guest book. I had 5 or 6 sparklers in each hand at this point and a few glasses of wine under my belt. A fun night!)
