Wearing Vans like the cool kids . Also new Olukai sneakers 7.7.21

Apparently this is how the cool kids lace their Vans . And no way am I NOT going to be cool , working as I do with a bunch of cool kids….

New suede and floral Vans with ladder lacing ( which I had to YouTube because that was beyond me ) .

Also new cognac leather sneaks from Olukai , which is my preferred version of the forum fav Ecco 7’s . Love the matching laces and the added design/logo features at the heel . Super super luxe and comfy .

Carla - yes . They do stay on! Obviously I’m not pounding the pavement for miles in these though . I’m not very fussy with sneakers and go barefoot with laces stuck inside etc . You can make ladder lacing as tight as you want Runs home to re- lace all shoes ….

And to think I gave away my last pair of the plain bl/ white suede Vans because I thought I looked like a young person wannabe (aka trying too hard : our favourite term here ) I’m such an idiot sometimes .

Love both pairs! I’m definitely going to check out the Oloukai’s. The Soft 7’s weren’t a great fit for me. And the ladder lacing! My DH is a high school teacher. He wears Vans to school on Fridays and the kids would love it if he does this. I’m going to look for a YouTube video for him.

I like the shoes, and the ladder lacing! I have trouble with a lot of laces being way too long and having excess lacing, so sometimes these special techniques can take up some extra. I may have to try this!

Ha! Someone once posted a link to about 50 different ways to lace one's shoes. I don't think I remember ANY of them; I would definitely have to have a reference to try Ladder Lacing. I LOVE the sneaks!

Janet - there is SO much extra lacing on these it’s crazy . I’m going to have to shorten them - the amount stuffed into my shoe is silly .

I think my daughter has the same or similar vans and I think she is one of the three coolest kids around . I love the second pair also. Elegant and low contrast to your leg. Really all of my favorite summer footwear is either statement and trying to get attention or low contrast with my skintone and trying to be elegant .

I don’t know about the cool kids, but this is how we were required to lace the display shoes when I worked in a department store during college. To this day, I could ladder-lace a pair of shoes in my sleep.
The floral Vans are adorable! And of course I love the Olukais because I never met a cognac shoe or accessory I didn’t covet.
