I asked for the forum’s suggestions on where to go on vacations. And I’m glad I did. One of the places mentioned was St.Petersburg, Florida. We went there and spent a week in a small town of Treasure Island. We had wonderful time, my DH thinks it was our best vacation ever! So, I’m very, very grateful for the suggestion!
I’m not skilled in putting together a wardrobe for a beach vacation or in what fancy people call a “resort wear”. We usually spend our time in urban setting. But as we get older, we wanted to enjoy off-season days on a beach.
My idea was to use black and whites as bones for my wardrobe and add some color. The only new items I bought for the trip were swimsuits, hat and two linen dresses to use as cover-ups. I had hard time with a hat, all inventory was gone from retail by the time I went shopping. Bought a cheap one but it worked OK.
So what worked and what didn’t? The idea to use b&w color scheme was not bad and familiar but I didn’t feel like wearing black. Planned to visit St.Petersburg more but we went only twice. And I brought too many garments for urban walks.
#1. 2 t-shirts and 3 tanks, didn’t wear black, only 3 items used.
#2. One of each: linen, cotton, silk tops. Used 1 item - a white cotton top.
#3. Black linen & bone linen mix pants. Mostly wore bone color pants but also had to wear black pants, my only second of two pairs of pants.
#4. Long sleeve linen- didn’t wear black and regrettable didn’t take my white linen button down shirt.
#5. One dress. I knew I’m going to wear it only once, on my DH’s birthday but I didn’t care, one more opportunity to wear my favorite dress.
#6.white linen long shirt dress. VIP of the trip - wore it over swimsuits and on its own. Didn’t wear it over black pants but liked the look.
#7. Fuchsia linen dress, beach wear only
#8. fabric bags and a linen scarf. I didn’t take any other bags
#9-15 outfits, some finally taken outside
#14 new friend!
#16-18 traveling outfit: COS woven joggers, cotton t-shirt, denim jackets, wool scarf.
#19 almost forgot to post a picture of my black swimsuit.
I had a pair of shorts and some camisoles for lounge wear, black sandals and flip flops. All of it was in a carry on bag.
Forgot to mention - at the last minute, decided to take a grey sweatshirt, planned to wear it under the denim jacket once we landed back in Toronto. Ended up wearing it twice on the evening walks on the beach.
Oh, that’s long! Thanks for reading!
