Hey YLF Fam. I hope your day is going well. I'm so tired I had a full and beautiful day. Full of Veterans DIY bodyscrubs and lip balms. Also we had a chance to do an old fashioned photo shoot at a vault a real one but alas it was empty.
So The beautiful and multiple talented Angie herself inspired this post. How? Well let me tell you. So I had this big fru fru skirt I op shopped of course and I wanted to wear it with denim and red shoes. I had a DIY workshop of Health and Beauty homemade natural body scrubs and lip balms. I wanted to wear something casual yet dressy. In my mind I knew the pieces but I did not know how to put them together. I wanted to wear red tennis shoes. My high top pf flyers but, they did not look right.
So then I turn to my virtual friend Google and did a search for Denim top and balgown skirt. Who is the 1st to pop up? Queen Angie herself on the images page. With her bright and sunny smile from 2010. I said BOOM! Whoop there it is! Yep my exact words. I read the blog post then I studied what Angie was wearing. I love using inspiration to real life and seeing how I can make it my own.
Simple yet Killer fit Angie created had me like what I can do this and still be Donna and give myself life for days. So I started to pull the sophisticated elements together. The watch the necklace with pearls I had a denim flower with a clip I could attach to my necklace. Simple dangling earrings because my hair is a precision cut. I need movement the earrings were perfect. The denim top the skirt is a full skirt. I choose to wear the skirt as a dress and pulled it up. Tying the denim shirt at the waist helped the skirt stay up along with the elastic waist.
Last it was the shoes my leather flat forms which I love by the way. Black on the top and then alternating black and white stripes on the thick sole. I added a silver bangle and watch that was it.
All items from the op shop. Thrifted over time. I must really say I loved this runway to real way challenge to myself.
Bonus pictures of what my day was like and what we did and the families of veteran. U.S. and it was 4 branches of the Services represented. Army me, Navy Meosha my friend and Marine and Navy. Meosha and her charity One Savvy Veteran host these events to raise funds for her nonprofit charity. 100% of the profits go to help women veterans in emergency situations.
As usual all are welcome. I'm off to take a nap. I'm a tired lady(don't judge me). Naps are the best. I included too many pictures as usual.
