The perennial question...do these jeans make my butt look big?

Angie has raved about these jeans, and I think Tanya has a pair and totally rocks them...and I too fell in love with the colour and fabric and picked up a pair.

These jeans are longer in the rise than anything I own currently, but I'm a long bodied gal, so they fall short of my waistline.

I like the appearance with drapey tops and semi-tuck. - but it's not really showing off the higher rise. I've tried tucking in - and while I'm happy enough with the appearance from the front, the posterior view is not so fab. I think it gives me a squarish flattish bottom. But maybe it isn't any better/worse in my other pants?

So in the interest of settling the question, I changed into several pairs of jeans and photographed the back view. My conclusions - I hope the semi-tuck stays in style forever :-)!

Anyone else experimenting with higher rise jeans? Any styling strategies to improve the rear view? Thanks ladies!

I am not a big expert on this question but I think your rear view in these jeans is pretty similar to others you already have - definitely not worse.
I think they look good - both front and back.
And I putting my signature on the petition on the "semi tuck forever" !

That was my thought too Sveta once I saw the photo evidence. How did we live/dress before the semi tuck :-)!

Your butt looks great in all the jeans. IMHO I think from the back view it looks best in 2, 5 and 7. I think having the top across the top half does make it look slightly "perkier", the dark denim is also very flattering, and the white is very blended.

But honestly they all look fine!!

It's not so much about the back view, though. It just adds that little bit of relaxed elegance somehow.

You are slim enough that this is not an issue, trust me. Jeans like this look best when they are relaxed - just like Suz says - and elegant. Yours here look just perfect to me. Tight and creased across the thigh bum and thigh is not relaxed elegance (Suz, this is the best term ever )

AND, to be clear by fab I mean perky and NOT "squarish flattish"

I think the new jeans look excellent and your butt looks great. The changing trends snuck up on me, but somehow the new jeans look very fresh and current on you, so I think that means high or mid-rise is catching on. I should try those same jeans - everyone seems to love them.

Also, I love the white sweater.

I like your new jeans, front and back, tucked and semi-tucked. I think all the jeans are flattering, and the new ones at least as flattering if not more so than the others. To me, it's not evident that they are a higher rise than some you already had (like 4, 5, and 6).

I think they look wonderful on you, and if the semi tuck is your thing, I'd carry on doing what works best for you.

What lisap said. Seriously, you have no worries in this area -- you could wear the most widening style in the world and you would still look great. The jeans look terrific.

I LOVE these jeans and they are going to be Summer workhorses. I might get another pair.

Angie - thanks for your input! I wondered the same thing and returned to the store to give the size smaller a go.So here's the thing, the smaller size sat (and stayed) higher up on my waist (about the navel level, still short of my waistline ) but...I found the leg length too short. The smaller size was also a smidge too tight in the waist for my preference - and I've discovered that these jeans do not stretch out. Hallelujah!

Love the new jeans on you. I think our eyes just have to adjust to the new proportions. In the meantime, semi-tuck away or go low-contrast with a tuck or short topper!

Hahaha! I would say your butt looks fine in all of these, there are some slight differences between them but none of them are "bad" in any way. And the new jeans look great, especially from the front, but also from the back.

Yours fit very relaxed - almost like streamlined BFs. Mine fit like tailored skinnies. Exactly like the model at the back (and front). Those jeans are hugging my bottom. And I don't roll them at the hems - hence I like the length. I leave them cropped and wear them with ankle strap footwear. I found that the extra soft and stretchy fabric is VERY comfy on waist.

And you're right. They don't bag out at all. I wore them in Arizona and they were brilliant. It's amazing how every so often Gap makes the MOST AMAZING ITEM. Leave no retail stone unturned.

You might need to get used to the fit again - after wearing baggy BFs for years. You'll be there is two ticks though.

Ok I just attended an end of school show at my son's school and if 12 year old girls have anything to say about it high waisted skinnies are the only jeans in town. Regardless of how their butt looks! But yours looks just fine - rock on.

Merwoman, it might be worth trying the size down again. But if the waist still feels a bit snug, I'd stick with the current size, even though they fit you more relaxed than skinnies. I've been there with high-waisted skinny jeans that felt good only in my skinniest moments. They ended up donated before their time.

They look great! I have these (and the same scarf as you) and they're really a winning pair. I like the looaer fit on you a lot but I bet you can wear a die down easily.
