Thanks Kate and Bonnie!
Suz, my mum’s the same. She asks me lots of questions about fashion. She is definitely open to new ideas. When I first explained pattern mixing to her she didn’t like it. But now she does it herself. Which I tease HER about …
Nikki, elephants are very cool!
Kyle, slim cat, Star, thank you!
Jussie, I totally agree. Juxtaposition has really come to the rescue for me since I left office work. I never used to think about it then but it’s my go to now.
BlueJay, thanks. I always look for ways to add asymmetry to my outfits. I think that’s another modern/unexpected element.
Gryffin, thank you. I did look briefly at the 2 x 2 thing. I think the idea must be that you need more than one dressy element or casual element to make the mix look intentional. It’s a helpful rule of thumb that I’m going to keep in mind.
Irina, thanks! I think you’d probably like a less chunky shoe too. Horses for courses, as Angie would say
RobinF, Janet, LJP, Katerina, Runcarla, CarolS, Lyn67, thanks for the kind words and encouragement
Tanya, thank you! You are a master in the art of juxtaposition. We are lucky to have you sharing your ideas here.
