We’ve had some fine days here after weeks of heavy rain. It’s rained so much that the ground is a total quagmire. There are trees and branches down everywhere and the grass in some of my favourite walking spots is 30 cm high. Never were combat boots so practical. Brooklyn Jnr (my dog) and I have been doing battle with the rugged conditions every day. Pattern mixing all the way.

No 1: DIY tie dye tee from Part 1 of my tie dye series. Despite not turning out how I wanted, it’s surprisingly wearable.

No 2: Sneak peek of a “new” DIY tie dye tee from Part 3 of my series (Part 3 is still a work in progress. Delayed by rain…)

No 3: DIY tie dye tee from Part 2 with embroidered skirt.

No 4: Does this graphic tee + animal print combination count as a pattern mix? I don’t know but I threw it in because it’s similar to Angie’s no 4.

No 5-6: Three patterns and sandals on a (rare) sunny day. The tee is the one shown in no 2.

No 7-8: The checked top is from my “black and white period” of about 5 years ago. I had lots of black and white items then. I have edited out or overdyed most of them now. I ended up dyeing this top twice because the grey undertone was very stubborn. It’s quite dark now, but I like it very much.

No 9: Pattern mixing with my dog.

My conclusion from this set is that, as far as pattern mixing goes, tie dye is in the same category as stripes and checks. Easy to pattern mix with more complex patterns if there is some commonality in colours. Almost a neutral.
