Hi all

Friday: time for another “singles bubble” lockdown lunch with my Mum.

I’m so tired of wearing casual clothes I decided to go with my Byzantine Jewel theme: old world opulence. I teamed my new velvet flares with baroque style floral top, sleeveless sweater, fleur de lis necklace, quatrefoil cuffs, more velvet and lots of metallic. A little bit of pattern mixing. Ombré! Plus, repeating motifs. (You have to look carefully but one of my necklaces has stripes that match my sweater.)

My Mum loves bling so I knew she would like it, and not tell me my clothing looks like it came from the tip (it has happened).

We watched “Now, Voyager”. Last week it was “Double Indemnity”. Great movies and excellent fashion inspiration.

OMG!! Those are the teal pants I have been wanting for so long. Just stunning as always, Brooklyn. I love your taste in film too. I recommend Random Harvest and Waterloo Bridge. Also, Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn. Those Givenchy clothes and Fred Astaire's dancing...parfait!!

In my current lockdown life, the few things I do outside the house are mainly exercise related. So in theory, I could wear leggings all the time. And I have done, when I lack energy! But the other day I put on a better outfit to go for a stroll with my husband, and it felt fab. I thought “why don’t I dress better more often??” But of course the leggings went back on the body as soon as we returned home

I am speechless with delight. I LOVE that you dress up and make an occasion of your catch ups with your Mum.

I am frantically working on a job, but when it is finished, Cruella and champagne are going to me my reward (I will cover Margot's ears if there is talk of skinning doggies for their fur). The fashion looks delicious and who does not love the fabulous Emma Thompson?

The shoes don’t have cut outs. They have an elastic gusset in a star motif. Here is a better picture.

This outfit is so beautiful I just can’t even. If I wore this I think it would look like a costume, on you, it looks effortless. Elegant with a capital E! The jewelry is perfection.

I heart Now, Voyager, one of my all-time favorites. The fashion! And the smoking (not that I’m advocating smoking, but nobody does it better than Bette Davis in this movie).

For more fashion fun, I always like The Women (not that remake nonsense).

Synne, thank you! I’m working on building what I call an “icon section” in my wardrobe. Unique, interesting, quality pieces that transcend trends, and that I will keep forever (size and wear and tear permitting). The teal flares are an icon piece.

RC, the coat is a treasure. I actually ripped it this winter. I can be hard on my clothes. Fortunately my clever mum was able to fix it for me.

Thanks PP! The smoking thing in “Now, Voyager” is dated but what a clever way to suggest intimacy in the days of high censorship. You read my mind because I was thinking about “The Women” too! It’s fun watching these old movies again from a fashion perspective. Glama-Rama.

Thanks Aquamarine. My mum thought it was a little silly at first but she’s right into it now. She has a huge wardrobe (bad editor) and each week pulls out some glamorous item that she has hardly ever worn. We take a selfie and send it to my brother.
