And I just have to share this photo of Bette Davis from Now, Voyager. In colour! Makes you wish more of these old films were made in colour.

Oops, cross post. Thanks Viva!

This is just sooooo good!! The different textures, gorgeous colours, the jewellery, that coat!! WOW!!
Also: it's so lovely to read about your outings with your Mum!

Just perfect, lush, elegant, timeless and beyond time. Yes the old movie star would have understood in such a visceral way. Detail, balance, harmony. Madame Chanel is coming to give you a big hug!!! God is definitely in the details. Sounds like you had a great day with mom and, as they say, you looked a picture. What a treat for both of you!!

Wonderful outfit, so very elegant!

You look fabulous!

Absolutely stunning! And even better in person I would expect. I love the fancy-dress meetups with your mum AND the “icon” section of your closet idea.

OK I just reread your post - who in their right mind could tell you that you look like you were dressed from the tip? That is beyond ridiculous... you look beautiful and immaculate ALWAYS.

just wow. Amazing ensemble.

I had to Google “tip,” haha, your mom sounds sassy.

Brooklyn, this look is absolutely stunning!!!! I LOVE it. <3

Does tip mean garbage dump? No way! Another awesome outfit for a lockdown lunch! Love the layered jewelry

Love the outfit! I know what you mean about missing your clothes.

Wow, this is a killer outfit. Luxurious and fun.

Just glorious! My brain is sputtering but this is absolutely fabulous in every way!

Thanks everyone!

Gryffin, you are too kind. I hope Madame Chanel comes with a couple of Byzantine style cuffs

Bijou, PP, Nikki. Yes, my mum can be very direct. She claims I got my hat from the tip (that’s the garbage dump). And she’s very critical of distressing, fraying, muted and muddy colours, juxtaposition, to name a few. She used to hate my stompy boots but I think her “eye is adjusting”, ha ha, because she lets that go now.

Diana, thank you from one Queen Teal to another.

Inge, thanks so much!

Madeline, I miss my nice clothes, and also the ritual of “dressing up” before going out. It’s all part of the joy of events and occasions.

And thanks Fern, Irina, Bonnie, Shevia, CarolS and Celia.

WOW!! This is sensational -- one of your very best, and that is saying something! I love the intricate layering, the balance of textures, the glam glam glam factor! So gorgeous on you. I don't know what to love most.

PHEW. Excuse me while I mop my brow!

Oh gosh how absolutely gorgeous!! Teal really is your colour! Love everything about it. Love the shape of the flare. My absolutely favourite shape of trousers. I don't have any at the moment as I can't go into any stores that would have anything that would fit me...I have to normally wait until I go to Europe to visit...wonder when that will be *cries* hope the trend doesn't pass before I can stock up on some.

So, so luxe ... And I can't imagine you ever looking remotely "tippish"

You look sensational! Everything about the outfit is fab.

Thanks JAileen. I hope you noticed the ombré!

Thanks N. Full length pants are hard to find but becoming a little more accessible of late. I think this brand of pants might be German. They were long! I had to hem them by about 4 inches.

Suz, Helena, thanks for the vote of confidence. My mum did approve of this outfit

Glamorously luxurious- couldn't really imagine a full velvet daywear outfit- but it works for your style, and hope DMom loved it!!:-)

I am speechless! I am without speech!

I LOVE the way it all came together sooo flawlessly in #5.

KILLER to the Power of KILLER GLAM

Nice you can COVID bubble with Mama!

Your outfit is beyond excellent and beautiful! Just show-stopping. Each week is another gorgeous look from you.

And thanks for the Bette Davis photo. I love Bette Davis. Love Now Voyager, and how it is about a woman overcoming abusive relationships and coming into her own. Love Paul Henreid too.

Thanks everyone!

CL, I love “The Heiress” too, which has a similar theme but is somewhat more bitter in tone. I think it’s great the way both movies don’t go the standard happy ending route but celebrate each woman’s independence.

Thanks for chiming in Angie. Thinking of you x

Wowie Zowie!! The metallics, the flare, the velvets...oh my!! You are the queen of luxe layering!! Love it and I see the stripes in the necklace! Your attention to detail is amazing!

So sweet how you and your mom dress up for your get-togethers!! Life is short; you are a good daughter for making time for her.

What a fantastic look. The colors, textures, the jewelry… I like how it challenges assumptions about how to navigate current circumstances. You wear it all beautifully and it makes me want to create more opportunities to enjoy fashion both in my own wardrobe and on others. Truly inspirational.

Thanks Eliza. I am touched.

AJ, thanks for noticing! These get togethers give us something to look forward to and something to punctuate the end of another week in lockdown. One week closer to freedom. Otherwise the days and weeks seem to just blend into one.
