First it is my made up challenge to rediscover my wardrobe. Read the link below to find out the back story.

I like the idea of konmarie but taking everything out of my wardrobe and putting it onto my bed at one time just isn't going to work for me. So I came up with a personal challenge.
I tend to buy clothes I like save them and not wear them. I am not part of team wear at all. So I decided this needs to change, and came up with my personal challenge.

Each Sunday I pick 5 pieces that bring me high joy and that I have saved from wearing and the challenge is these pieces become the basis of 5 different work outfits.
If it is a Saturday I'm most likely wearing my one of three bottoms, My Good American jean which are so high joy it is ridiculous, or for the summer some lucky denim shorts that I have in a dark wash and light wash that I had tailored to fit me perfectly.
Sundays are a free day

I have been doing this personal challenge for 3 weeks and have learned so much.
A. I really like my wardrobe for the most part - for a while now I have really focused on buying base building pieces and it has paid off in spades.
B. I tend to be suckered in by a pretty pattern and I have learned some of my high joy pieces are for the pattern while the fit is not perfect. So I have to be extremely careful moving forward to make sure I'm not lured in by a beautiful pattern.
C. Going into week 4 I picked my 5 high joy pieces and looked into my closet and without even thinking just purged 5 pieces that were not high joy. I got over the guilt of the money and mistakes I have made.
D. going onto week 4 I am totally ready to repeat some pieces from week 1 - so my repeat tolerance is 3 weeks. This is helpful for me to know.
E. Because I'm picking a piece I tend to want to highlight that piece so I'm am combining clothes in new ways.
F. I love, love, love a great topper, a tunic and a pencil skirt. I just need to accept these three facts and move on. Every so often I like to pretend I don't love these three things and try dress differently but really they are my thing and I feel great in any combination of them.

I look forward to continuing the challenge and learning more and purging more from my closet until I have a closet that is completely high joy.

Focusing on only wearing clothes that are high joy only has been a game changer for me. Such a simple concept.
