By all rights I should still be in bed. I just went to bed at 3am. The navy ginham and eyelet lace skirt worked out superbly. The idea for the hot pink belt bookended with the hot pink in the shoes came later. I'm a little disappointed at the picture quality -- so I'll have to wear this again post with better lighting.
Deborah - If you got here from your home you could do anything you wanted in my closet
Ornella - I hope there was a fainting couch to catch you nearby. Thank you
Neel - oh I was only referring to the actual party. The outfit and hair behaved
much better than expected.
Ceit yesterday was a good hair day! When I ask myself would you rather have a house full of people who are/were suspect and bad hair or would you rather have a good hair day with a smaller gathering? Good hair always wins
kkards -- "preppy princess" never thought that would be used to describe me. It completely works for this situation
Shevia -- admittedly I'm not too upset about some of the left overs. I made chili and DH made lasagna. I'd heard of this "famous" lasagna but, until today he hadn't made any for me. It's really yummy. I'll have to dream up another occasion for him to make it.
Aquamarine -- funny you should say casual. I've struggled this year trying to figure out what that looks like for me. Your comments let me know I am succeeding with the definition.
Suz - Oh great one, you come with such wisdom! Absolutely SO many people told us they were coming and would "definitely be there" in the end they didn't call or show up (literally they fell off the map). In the end the people gathered brought us the gift of their company AND bought us really nice gifts to mark the occasion (we didn't ask for any gifts!).
Janet -- last night reminded me of how much I miss entertaining and a 6 year stretch without hosting is far too long.
Nicole - I think you hit the nail on the head. I wanted to be comfy but I also wanted to look like a hostess (and not a servant )
