I'm glad to hear you had a happy party. You sure did look smashing! Your gingham with pink look fun and welcoming, and I ADORE your hair like that!

I can't get past your hair either - YLF DV. Glad your party went well, sorry about the leftovers.

Love the combo of the gingham with the pearls! You look amazing. I may have to copy this look. Glad you enjoyed your guests. Small, intimate home gatherings are just about the best in my book.

Love this party and the people who do show are usually the ones worth it anyway!

I am glad you had a good hair da and enjoyed the party! I will confess, I enjoy smaller intimate gatherings moe than big parties. I really feel like I get to spend more time with everyone and really talk to them.

Oh, DV, deja vu! Last month we had a party to celebrate son-in-law's finishing his doctorate. It ended up being a lovely time with people who really cared, and tons of leftovers. (People who said they'd be there but weren't.) The scariest part was that the first guest didn't come till an hour and a half after the stated time! This is par for the course in some Latin American countries where I had lived, but surprised us for Los Angeles! Anyway, it was lovely in the end. So glad yours was. Entertaining can be a little bit anxiety-provoking!

Cute outfit, but I have to say I really LOVE your hair this way!!!

You look gorgeous! I love hot pink and navy. So pretty! So fresh! Just lovely.

I entertain often (dinner club, friends, our annual New Years Day party) and sometimes a party is just smaller. It made me smile to see that you took my perspective on it--still lovely, just smaller and people who care a lot. It makes for a much less stressful night!

Christieanne -- You have perceptive powers beyond belief! I did not want to write a snarky mean post venting on all the people who RSVP'd but did not show for one reason or another. You completely captured my feelings on the matter You read between the lines SO well because this is EXACTLY what happened. "I don't know what is going on with people these days with the not
responding to RSVP or not calling to cancel if they can't make
it.....seems to be the trend in our hectic world."
DH and I were rehashing the affair this morning and thought that a lot of people are mistaking surface level exchanged with people online as a true connection and taking it for granted that the connection is just as strong as it ever was even if there has been no real life contact in years.

Day, your party sounds like a wonderful gathering of friends and you look beautiful. The leftovers sound delicious. I once read that Martha Stewart or someone advised planning two gatherings back to back so that you only have to deep clean and decorate and cook once. I always wish I'd planned things that way seeing our leftovers and extra drinks, etc. later. Can you invite some neighbors or relatives over for an impromptu party?

Day Vies, it is so interesting to read your comments about relationships in a hectic world. It makes me reflect, not for the first time, on the quantity v quality of friends. Superficial friends, and I do not mean they were superficial people, have fallen away as I have grown older. I have a tiny circle of friends, a large family and wonderful neighbours. Ca suffit.
You look enchanting in lace, gingham and pearls.

I'm glad your party went well. You look fab!!

Lookin' good! I'm still finding it hard to believe that you have thin hair.

Joy I think that is a wonderful idea -- I did happen to invite my neighbors as a courtesy since I live in a walk-up and they'd hear the festivites anyway. Most but not all chose not to attend. We are thinking of having a smaller gathering soon though to take advantage of a clean house.

I always enjoy seeing your fab WIWs.

Both chili and lasagne freeze well. Package up in small enough containers so that the defrosting part doesn't take too long. You can always defrost multiple small packs!

You are gorgeous - as in drop dead gorgeous! I love the gingham shirt with the lace skirt. And the pink belt and shoes are like icing on the cake. Too bad we're only YLF neighbors - I'd love to crash your party and celebrate your success with you!

Karie, I'd love to have you!

You are so lovely, and I'm glad the people who really mattered were there.
