You know what's great about YLF? It often 'forces' or reminds me to pull it together for weekend/everyday running around.....or maybe a better way to say it is that it encourages me to get some jewellery on , take it up a notch, and see what can come of it. I was just headed out to grab the Saturday newspapers and to pop into the local indie bookstore for a Christmas gift...but you never know who you will run into so.....

All the plaid business on the forum this past week has been on my mind; it's not my favourite thing to wear, I have little of it, and only because of this forum I wanted to do a plaid look and try to pump it up a notch by adding some statement jewellery....and decided to build it around this shirt. I've had it for a few years, don't really like it (lol) as it's a an odd wool blend and can be itchy, plus it fits me the way shirts usually do: I have to adjust them constantly by pulling it forward (they all seem to slide back on my neck and shoulders) and by straightening the placket (ahem, larger breasts than I wish) . Why do I bother? Anyways - it was a natural pairing with Angie's parka (which I keep forgetting I have and rarely wear) , and my newish olive suede boots - and then pearls seemed like a nice preppy thing to add on . Pearls are the only jewellery that seem ok to wear 'matched' , if you will, and it didn't seem too precious to wear the necklace, earrings AND a ring. No purse today, just my olive green/gunmetal studded Coach wallet.

lessons: 1. plaid shirts are still difficult for me, but they do look good with a parka and pearls ; 2. don't wear your good suede boots in sloppy , wet, snowy weather, you idiot; 3. ylf is the best source of encouragement for taking the everyday to the next level .

Thoughts on ways to wear plaid when you aren't entirely comfortable in it? Comments, jokes, the usual.....always welcome! Have a great weekend, everyone
