Thanks for all the great recommendations! You've given me a lot to explore.
CocoLion, I did all the same research on the AS 98 brand and was impressed with what I found. That's a big reason why they rose to the top of my list, and why I'm willing to pay their price. The same is true for Eileen Fisher and Bed Stu (with bonus point to Bed Stu for being here in LA).
JAileen, Bijou and torontogirl, I tried some Birkenstocks last year and couldn't get them off my feet fast enough. They felt like having bricks strapped to my feet. What am I missing?!
Joy, I also don't find Crocs at all comfortable. I'd slip my son's on occasionally (when we wore the same size) and found the footbed annoying.
Bijou, I think I need to flip my current ratio of boots to sandals. For starters, I didn't touch my tall boots this year, and my snow boots are now gear-only, for trips to the mountains and back to Colorado.
notsaf, I think you're right about that little heel! I couldn't put my finger on why I wasn't wearing them all the time, because they don't rub or irritate my feet at all, but yes! It's a stability thing. Somehow, they feel narrow, but not in a tight sense...more like you're standing on a base that's smaller than the sole.
shevia, that's very true! Those top-of-foot sunburns huuuuuuuurt too.
Suz, that's a great collection you posted! I'm especially intrigued by Naot after reading their story.
La Pedestrienne, I had high hopes for Kork-Ease when I was hunting for mules, but I found the pair I tried on to be just awful for my feet. I'm not sure how it would translate to their sandals, but it was so disappointing. Of everything I tried on, they were the ones I liked the looks of the most and found the least comfortable. Those Crupons are gorgeous...and nice to hear Star's recommendation for Bulgarian quality.
