Sack dress, ombre jacket, OTK boots

So, sack dresses. My husband hates this type of dress because "it does nothing for me".

But I think they are fun and oh-so comfortable, so we will differ. This one is in organic cotton (yes, it is a glorified T-shirt dress) and has a kind of tail on the side. Love it!

The dress is by Australian brand Bassike.

Worn with ombre jacket (from ASOS) and OTK boots (Midas) to go to the gym and do some shopping.

Anyone else a fan of this type of dress?

Hey this is a pretty flash look to go to the gym!!

I love the idea of these dresses but don't have one. i think it is a great weekend look, and will be wonderful with bare legs as the weather warms up....it is starting to here now although imagine most of Australia is still warmer.

YES!! I love a sack dress, or at any rate a shapeless dress. Always gives off a cool vibe. You look fantastic. Your styling is perfect. Now just between you and me.. you really need to send me that jacket lol. May I ask is it a recent purchase? I have been watching for something like this for ages. Hubby has to concede you look gorgeous right?

Thanks kiwigal! I usually struggle with this type of dress - especially if too short. But this one feels very comfortable.
Thanks Deborah! Hubby likes the jacket but really does not like the dress. (But he has been overruled on this occasion.) I am glad you like the jacket so much. Unfortunately not a recent purchase - I got it from Asos about 18 months ago. It was one of those click frenzy 30 percent off everything deals. It was already on sale so I really scored. It has proved a real winner for me. I love ombre.

That hemline makes it much more than a t-shirt dress. You look great.(what would hubby know?!) I don't have this type of dress, I feel I want a bit more shape at this point.....but maybe I should consider it as a breezy option as the weather warms up. Great jacket, too.

I wore that type of dress when I was at my thinnest but now I know I wouldn't be able to carry it off. You, on the other hand, do it beautifully. I suspect you could easily wear it with a few drop dead accessories and look fab. This is a perfect example of how to style a "sack" dress and look amazing.

I just realized how many descriptors like fab, amazing and gorgeous I used in two sentences.

dress looks good, i think these types of dresses are hard pull off, whenever i try them, i feel like the dress is wearing me….but you look great. i think the OTK boots make this look, and the ombre jacket is a wow.

Wow - you look great ! I love this kind of dress too, and have to just not listen to (usually men) people who think they are not flattering. Not everything has to be body con to be flattering, I say ! I love, love, love that jacket! I really like ombre too, and would kill to have that piece.

Sack dresses are lovely if they fit well and yours appears to. Pairing with that jacket is a win/win. A sack dress that oh so not flattering are the moo-moo's that women used to wear to lounge in. I still like to lounge in a long shift.

You look great. I like the ombre effect too. The jacket adds a waist line and structure.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be adding some sort of sack or a line dress for winter because I like the clean lines.

LOVE this on you Brooklyn--I agree, sack dresses are all about the styling and you've styled this one perfectly. Like Smittie, I also noticed how the jacket creates waist shaping. I love a sack dress as it's such a wonderful blank canvas for all kinds of creative looks, but I have to be choosy about fabric and drape as a shorter person. For all their comfort, sack styles tend to drop from my rather round bustline and create a pregnancy look--too much of a disconnect on a woman my age.

Thanks all! I will tell DH he got outvoted on the forum. I like the idea of it being a blank canvas, as Aliona said. It is also one of the few dresses I have that I don't feel the need to change out when I get home in order to be more comfortable.
Deborah, Suz, Lisa - I will sure to post a "PSA" next time I find something like the ombre jacket. Especially as I now know what PSA means. I love, love, love your ombre UO dress Lisa.
