Love this colour combo! It feels like a cool scoop of ice cream on top of a piping hot dish of apple crisp. I'm so glad you featured it, Angie. Did you reference it a few days ago? Because I had it stuck in my head from somewhere after receiving the suggestion that it was a thing I wanted to do. In fact I started seeing people around me wearing the combination-weird! Even couples dressed like that. So, I had to come up with my own mix.

This is actually from 2 days ago. I wore the (new) red pants, because they were lined and I wanted extra warmth. So it was a grand excuse to pull out my pinstriped baby blue Gap shirt (a hand-me-up from my daughter). I wanted an extra layer on top for warmth too, so I added this off-shite cardi (also Gap). It always annoyed me that the sleeves were too tight at the cuff to push up (my usual default) but on this wearing I decided that, since they are also extra-long (rare on me!!) they are meant to be worn half-covering the hand (not sure if that lasted until picture time). I didn't do the semi-tuck when I had my white coat covering the cardigan, just wore the shirt out, but with the length of the cardi visible I like the proportions better with a semi-tuck. It could have worked full-tuck as well, but apple-y me is very happy to disguise the waist a little, thank you very much.

I wore it with my moto boots out and with my grey patent oxfords at the office. Every time I caught a glimpse of myself it made me extra happy.

Then I got home, and snuggled down with Netflix to catch up on Call the Midwife, and the penny dropped! The midwives' uniform is a pale blue dress worn with a deep red/almost burgundy cardi. That's how it got into my subconscious as a Thing. Because, really, this is a LOT of colour for neutral-loving me. I have made myself late re-trying outfits because red and tan/taupe/beige in the same outfit was just too LOUD. This works, though. Also, like Angie says, the pale blue prevents the Tricolor/Flag appearance that is TOO preppy for me.

Thanks for reading! I will come back and add the picture (I hope).
