Rachy, a sad and funny story.
Taylor, you are wise. My Mama died when she was younger than you. It puts life into perspective over and over again for me.
Looking attractive means different things to different people, which is a saving grace. For the most part though - (although it's improving) - the Fashion and Beauty industry is unfortunately still quite set on an un-diverse benchmark of beauty. It uses that to prey on our insecurities so that we buy products and have procedures. That's why I liked the message in the article - (although extreme but trying to make a point) - that we must stop feeling inadequate just because we stray from some very subjective and idealized form of beauty. My personal goal is to rise above what is expected and idealized by creating my own benchmarks for beauty. Those benchmarks are diverse and make us feel good - instead of bad - about the way we look.
And another point, people don't notice the so called "imperfections" in your beauty and style like we think they do. We all have more to worry about!
