After seeing how fab Firecracker looks in all her premium jeans, I thought I’d like to try some since I do not own any premium denim, and replace some of my oldies. I brought home two (from The Rack). I’m looking for a flattering, curvy look on the rear view and I like my jeans snug. Ideally I would end up with three pair – skinny, straight and boot cut. I would like one of them to have flap pockets, and the others to have some stitching on the pockets (not plain).

I took the photos with a tucked-in Tee so the details can be seen. I wouldn’t be tucking my tops.

1) True Religion Skinny with Flaps Basic, size 26. I love the front, my issue is I think the pockets are way too low. They extend about 2” below my butt crease and I “feel” them when I walk. I think they’re making my butt look too long. 2) Old TT Blues bootcuts with the flap pockets I’m used to as far as size and position. Questions: Is it that my eye is just not adjusted to this low pocket placement? Is this the current standard? Do the old ones look really dated with the smaller pockets and light yellow embroidery? (these are my errand-runnig jeans)

3) 7 for All Mankind Gwenevere, size 27. These feel nice except I noticed the curve from the hip doesn’t continue smoothly, it becomes a vertical line at the waistband and it gives me an indentation there (these are going back). They also look SO plain to me. I think I’d like my premium jeans to be a bit more “showy” somehow.

4) My trusty Levy’s Too Superlow 524s for reference because, apparently I cannot fill the calves of some new “skinny” jeans, they get folds from the knee down, but they are snug in the thigh because of my quads Compare the calf-fitting on these with the two premium

I also ordered the Paige Jimmy-Jimmy skinnies & Indio plaid skinnies. And this is only looking at skinnies so far! Do you have a recommendation of a Brand & Style for me to try knowing what I’m looking for and seeing the photos for my body shape? Thank you for all your help!
