That's right folks take cover 'cos the sky is falling down... I'm wearing stripes!!! Yes, me a self proclaimed stripe-phobe!

I made this tube skirt a few days ago and I'm actually liking the stripes because they wiggle, and are shaded, and varying colours and thicknesses; though very difficult to match up on the seams as it's nigh on impossible to line the wiggles and waves up, anyway it's very comfy. Today is also the first time I tried out my lace up booties with a skirt and I'm loving it.

Comments suggestions welcome, TGIF!

ETA, have I got the shape of the skirt right? I've never had a tube skirt before and I was a bit wary of going too narrow at first, though it's an easy fix to sew in a little... I do need room to walk though.

I love it! It reads as much less aggressive than most stripes. The colour gradations give it a beautiful subtlety and the way the colours work with your hair and your booties is fab.

Those are perfect stripes for a low contrast person. Love it. The shape looks great, but it would be easier it tell if you could post a photo front on, standing straight. Would you like me to take some measurements of my VC tube skirt for comparison?

Fabulous, Diane! Well done for taking the plunge :). Have you settled on this length? I'm wondering if a little shorter, under your knee, would also work well? Strictly FWIW.....

Thanks Lynne, actually I wondered about the length and I thought better to make it longer to start with as you can always shorten, but you can't add it back on! I may live with it like this for a while and see how I feel. Of course I should probably wait till after I wash it for the first time in case it shrinks a little. There is some viscose in the mix and I was lazy not pre-washing the fabric!

wow and the stripes are horizontal and you look FABULOUS! the zip sweater really works with this. have you thought of unzipping more?

also, have you considered ruching the sides of the skirt a bit to give it texture?

This step outside the comfort zone paid off! Glad you found a stripe that works for you, because you look great. I think the others have made good suggestions about tweaks to the skirt. I like the ruching idea! I think some tube skirts also taper in slightly, but I dont remember the body types that can wear that look.

What a beautiful skirt - you did amazing on this! These are also my kind of stripes - low contrast, multi-width - very pretty on you with the colors you chose and it looks fantastic with your booties too.

I think that the skirt looks really nice. I think being the the sweater is quite long I would like to see the skirt a little shorter, love the lace up boots. Just my opinion:)

I adore this on you, Diane. What a fantastic fabric. It has exactly the right colours for you and is so gently graduated -- it's a bit "Missoni" like, almost.

I think the skirt can be tapered a bit more. I would not make it shorter -- just more tapered. It it's knit, you'll be able to walk anyway.

The boots and sweater are the perfect partners!

Thank you all! I'm grateful for the suggestions for tweeking the skirt as I've never worn this style before. I have a question for tube skirt wearers too... when you.. ahem.. have to go to the bathroom, do you pull the skirt down, or up? I'm thinking if it's narrower I will have trouble getting it over my hips and bum if I pull it up.

Lol! You could certainly pull it down then, like trousers.
Love the stripes on you. They're your colors and don't look sporty in the least IMO (that was your hang-up, right?). Gorgeous outfit, sweater, booties and your beautiful, smiling face!

My VC tube skirt has the following dimensions (size M):
Waist 16"
Hips 18"
Bottom 14.75"
Length 27.5"

I'll also take a pic so you can see the shape.

I do think yours could be tapered a bit more.

Wow this is my favourite look on you. The mix of colour, texture and pattern is wonderful. Live the boots too. I agree a taper on the skirt will add the perfect final touch.

LOL! I can picture your facial expressions and hear your adorable accent when you asked the bathroom question! I have straight hips, so I'm a puller upper, but no reason why you can't pull the skirt down.

Hehe AJ! Glad you like it. I have straightish hips, It's my stomach that's becoming a problem! I expect I'll be a puller downer BTW the sweater is from UK based Next from last year. They often have nice knitwear and do ship all over the world now.
