Sveta, what an adventure! Crazyone, I looked at those placket jackets too, the fabric was lovely.

I was wrong earlier, the tank and top I bought were from Amber Sun, not Halogen. I just tried on things and took some pics and I'm already thinking of returning some things. The button-front blouse is definitely going back, but it wasn't an anniversary sale item anyway.

Cardigan and olive tank (just threw them on together for the picture, the color combo is a bit out there)

Sequined tank
I thought this would be a perfect work-with-anything piece but once I got it home I had a hard time finding what to layer with it. Here it is with a cream cardigan; I tried it with a black jacket too and I wasn’t in love with either. I’m leaning toward a return. Maybe I should have gotten the black and just planned to wear it with formalwear.

Wow ,Sveta... that sounds like some I Love Lucy episode!! What a great haul!!

crazyone, can you tell me more about the Ambition Double Placket Jacket? I really like how it looks online, but am worried that the fabric is french terry. In the picture it doesn't look like a towel texture at all... what is the fabric like in real life??? Thanks!

Donna, did anyone answer your question about the pants? I tried them on and found them true to size. The rise was great ~ not too low at all. I didn't get them only because they didn't fit me well. I all too often get weird baggy bits in the front near the zipper and did with these, so I passed. But the material is wonderful, and they were very flattering on my legs.

I woke up too early this morning, which worked out well as I was able to peruse the online sale. I had already done very ~ VERY ~ well at two preselection appointments, but found several new items that I loved. Alas, I didn't pull the trigger since we were heading out early for a day at the beach, and by the evening once the kids were in bed, they were sold out. This evening I also noticed a Munroe boot that I adore, and of course it is completely sold out in my size. I guess I will become a stalker to see if it comes back.

So, so much fun to hear what everyone has been doing with NAS. Sveta, you get the award for most adventurous NAS outing ever! I hope everyone ends up loving all their purchases.

Kate: I ordered it online as well so I'm in the dark as much as you are! But I have a knit blazer that is also listed as being made of "terry", but it's more of a knit polyestery material, which is absolutely fine with me and doesn't at all resemble a towel. So I doubt that it's towel like...but if it is it'll get returned...

oh Kate, it seems like Laura a few posts above said that the fabric on the placket jackets was "lovely" so I doubt they're towel-like.

French terry in my experience, when the fabric looks smooth, usually just means sweatshirt material--loopy on the inside, but smooth knit on the outside.

Sparky, Thanks for your info on the pants. I haven't quite made a decision if I want to try them. I'm very short waisted and need quite a long rise. I was hoping maybe someone who had them in their possession already would chime in with a measurement.

I'm really enjoying hearing everyone's stories!

Sveta-I can NOT wait too see all your new items. Sounds like a great haul! And how nice of hubby to NOT say anything. So sorry to hear about the border issues, I guess they were bored today.

Laura-I love that blue cardi you got, looks great on you. I like the sequin tank too but I defer how to style that to others.

Laura my orders also said I wouldn't receive it till July 29th. This evening I received an email stating it was shipped and I would receive it on Thurs. I ended up placing 2 orders so hopefully my second will ship soon too.

I can't wait to see everyones loot.

Kate, I have tried Ambition jacket in the store. The fabric is nice - it is like ponte and quite substantial. Nothing like terry towel at all! I was considering it but it did not catch my heart as much as the Hinge jacket.

Thanks for all of the responses about the fabric on that jacket! I ended up ordering both the raisin and dune colors so I can decide which I like better!

Yes, from what I remember the fabric is a nice doubleknit (ponte-esque, not the yucky 70s kind) with a cottony sweatshirty feel.

Lisa, thanks for your comment - I love the cardi, it's just got a great feel to it too. I'm leaning toward returning the sequin tank but I will let it marinate a while before making a decision (sure as heck not venturing back into Nordstrom this weekend, anyway).

BethW - I got the same bracelet, but in white!

Maya - The shorts fit true-to-size, maybe a bit large but not a whole size larger. I wear size 28/6 in most jeans and got size 6.

Reporting in: I just got home after meeting up with Rosie and Melissa at the Nordstrom's in downtown San Francisco. It was so much fun to finally meet some YLFers in person and to shop with them. Melissa got a head start before Rosie and I arrived and scored some amazing loot in the shoe department. We all browsed in the handbags and wallets section for a while and then made our way over to the shoe department. Rosie and Melissa were kind enough to try to help me find a new wallet, evening bag and some brown riding boots, but nothing seemed quite right; however, me being me, I was very taken with all the bow-embellished patent leather Kate Spade handbags. But I bypassed them to maintain my focus, and we headed upstairs to clothing next.

We made a beeline for some of the jackets we had spied in the online catalog, but found them disappointing for various reasons--either sizing or color or material or fit. I tried on the Halogen black moto jacket, but felt it was too long, and Rosie and Melissa felt something wasn't quite working right in the shoulders. "We're sorry, but we don't love it," they informed me. A Calvin Klein brown leather jacket fit better, and though it wasn't on my list and I'm really not a leather jacket kind of girl, I'm feeling tempted and plan to sleep on it. I may swing back by after an appointment tomorrow morning if I can't get it out of my head.

You're all going to yawn, but my big find was a plain white button-down Halogen shirt that Melissa pointed out to me. Thank you, Melissa! I've been struggling to find a great white button-down shirt for some time, and this one was the right length and fit beautifully! I also picked up a fun and inexpensive red tartan engineer hat on a whim while Rosie was hunting down an anorak for Chewy Spaghetti. But on the whole, I found as I browsed the racks that Angie was right about the smaller sizes selling out quickly. There wasn't a whole lot in available in XS or size 0, and I was disappointed when a sales associate informed me that the Tahari dresses I was pining after are not carried in sizes below a 2.

Although this is not the point of hitting the NAS at all, I went berserk with belts, which weren't even on sale! Me--a professed belt phobic! I finally found a wide brown woven belt, which I've been on the lookout for to pair with a number of brown and taupe items in my wardrobe. But I also bought a lime green skinny belt for the pop of crazy color, and also a super skinny white leather bow belt with Melissa and Rosie's blessing. I'm not quite sure how I'll be pairing them with existing items in my wardrobe, but I look forward to experimenting!

So on the whole, while my shopping expedition probably wasn't as productive as it should have been, I came away with some new items that made me happy and don't think I'm finished quite yet. But the best part was meeting Rosie and Melissa, who were just lovely, having the benefit of their opinions as we shopped, and chatting about YLF when we stopped for a drink afterwards. I will try to post some loot photos later this weekend, but need to get some sleep now. I kind of have that same feeling you have at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve when all your last-minute shopping is forced to come to a halt. Happy Shopping, Everybody!

Frances it sounds like the three of you had a great time. I can't wait to meet some YLFers in the flesh!

WOW I'm loving reading about all your purchases!!! I hope everything you have all ordered is just as you want it to be.

Sveta I think your story has to take the prize for the most dedicated shopper!! What a huge day with lots of "interesting" happenings!

Angie you have done a fabulous job with your posts and also helping these lovely gals!

This is such an exciting thread! What fun everyone's having. Wish there was something similar in the UK - not sure Boden's Autumn preview has quite the same buzz about it LOL!

Debbie, thanks, I am glad to hear your package shipped already! Can you imagine what it must be like to work in Nordstrom's shipping dept right now?

The Frye Janes saga continues! Last night at 8 p.m., Kristen's salesman in shoes called and said a pair of boots in my size in taupe had come in to the store, brand new, and did I want them. Um, yes? So he cancelled my first purchase, which I made on Tuesday night, which would have been processed on Monday -- all while mentioning that I might not have gotten them that way if they had sold out -- and I bought this pair. Then he asked if I wanted them shipped. Um, no! Not risking losing them with all the chaos in our shoe dept! I am going to pick them up today.

So, Angie, can you explain how this works? I am so confused! Was the salesperson doing this because he gets a bigger commission by selling merchandise in store? Is inventory just complete chaos at this point?

Tanya, don't lose hope! Our Nordstrom salesperson said there were stacks and stacks of those tunics in our store. And I bet a lot of those Hinge Victoriana jackets will be returned in the end. Gorgeous as it is, my hunch is that it's not going to work on a lot of body types ... but it will on you!

Wow - you guys are killing me I am continuing to add more and more things to my list for my Monday night shopping and I've already ordered a bunch of stuff online. Sveta - what a story! Where in Canada do you live?

Frances, I ordered that Calvin Klein brown leather jacket. I am hoping it fits well. I tried the smallest size they had in the store, which was too big, but the SA ordered one size down for me. I really loved it in the store. I also ordered the same Halogen white blouse. I had it on my wishlist after seeing it in the catalog, and liked it just as much in person. It's the kind of item I could see duplicating ~ or wanting to, as I see that my size is already sold out. I'm glad the three of you had such a great outing ~ what fun having shopping partners like that!

I ordered the Hinge crop tweed jacket in large reg. on Angie's list it did not come in petite (I needed the xlp in the tweed Halogen crop collarless jacket) has anybody had the jacket on that could advise me I am 5' 2" thought maybe it being cropped that would help on the lenght. Thanks

Renee, I didn't try it on, but I did look at it yesterday. It is very cropped, so it should be OK as long as the sleeves aren't too long. Easier to tailor those, though:)

Hello,

What fun hearing about everyone's adventures!

Sveta, I'm sorry customs was such a pain, but it sounds like you did really well. Purple is my favorite, too, and there were some beautiful purples at the sale. Can't wait to see some pictures!

Beth, I'm sorry that the boots didn't work for your narrow calves, but I was so happy to finally find boots for my large calves.

I had the best time meeting up with Frances and Rosie at the SF store. They are both wonderful and lovely people, and great to shop with. Rosie has the most beautiful coloring, and it was great fun to see her in all kinds of different colors. She will have to chime in about her loot, but I know she picked up the chanel-esque jacket in black and looked fab in it. Frances has amazing taste and a great eye. She looked amazing in that little brown Calvin Klein leather jacket. Frances, if you're still thinking about it, I definitely think it's worth bringing home to experiment with--it could add a slightly new twist to existing outfits, and it seems like the color would go with a lot of things. I loved the little green belt Frances picked up and look forward to seeing it styled. Frances and I have similar but not identical coloring (brown hair, hazel eyes, pale skin), so it was interesting for me to compare colors that look good near our faces with her. Ladies, thank you both again so much for coming out--it was great!

As Frances mentioned, I went early to shop the shoes and I was blown away by the boots. I came away with 3 pairs of tall boots, one pair of booties, and two pairs of shoes! It's unusual for me to find boots that fit my larger calves, so I leapt at the chance to stock up. I'll dedicate a post to my shoe loot after I've had some caffeine. I didn't do very well in clothing, which was disappointing since I really need shirts, but I'll keep looking. I did pick up two white button downs, one Halogen button down, and one Michael Kors tunic.

I am having so much fun reading about everyone's NAS adventures AND their hauls (anyone planning to post a 'haul' video on youtube ??

Sveta - I do think you win the most exciting NAS trip award!

You all have mentioned such a wonderful variety of pieces that I am definitely going to need a trip to Nordies to leisurely check out all sorts of goodies. . . and rethink what I preselected vs. what I overlooked.

Keep those adventures (and some pics) coming, ladies!!

I was able to cross three items off of my fall list.

black boots - http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....2&P=1

faux leather black moto jacket - I can't find it online, but I'm in moto jacket love. I have three (cream, brown, black), and am thinking this one might be my fav!

COH jeans I had tried on in May and decided to buy this fall happened to be on sale! The wash is a bit lighter than the ones I had tried on, but will do. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....rchresults

Renee, Hinge tweed jacket is VERY cropped - it comes just to my waist only in M. I am 5'10'' though. It is 17" from the shoulder to the bottom and sleeve length is 19" - this is 3/4 sleeve. Hope this helps.
Sihaya, I am in London Ontario and I went to Troy MI for shopping.

Thanks Sveta that should work. Now to decide between the Hinge red tweed & the black Halogen crop collarless jacket. Do you think they are too much alike in style to keep both of them?

Hey, has anyone happened to see this multichain necklace in person?
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....ace:299046

I saw it on Nordstrom's sale RSS feed, and thought it looked quite versatile.

I'm late to the placket jacket acclamation - that jacket looks so neat! Maybe I'll go back (I've got to take my jacket back to be altered anyway) and look for it.
