annagybe - Yes we saw it at Seattle Opera both in 2009 and in 2013. I just love it!!! My husband has also seen it in San Francisco and in the 90's (I think) in Seattle, when he was stationed on a ship in Bremerton and took the ferry over for each performance -- walking all the way to the Seattle
Center in his opera attire! He is an intrepid Wagner fan. We are seeing The Flying Dutchman this spring.
MsMary - your sofa is quite similar in color to my love seats. Mine are cotton velvet, looks like yours is also. I just love your living room!!! Thanks for posting the photo.
Bonnie G - Are you telling me that your DH has every issue of Verve?
Wow, am I envious! My story started in Nice at the Matisse Museum. many years ago when I discovered a post card with the green-and-white images. I searched in vain for the original art, assuming it was in some museum and finally discovered that Matisse designed this one as a cover for Verve. Eventually I found an original Verve cover on eBay, of all places, and bought it. It is actually only half of the cover but there are images on both sides (front and back). However, there are 2 different images, as you probably know. So originally I framed an enlargement of the post card ((in the small frame) and after I acquired the Verve cover, I photocopied the reverse side and hung it next to the framed front side. So that is my story. Verve issues are $$$$$ so I will never own one but I would love to see one, especially this issue, some day. There was an exhibit in NYC a year or so ago but I could not get away to see it. (sorry for the long post)
