As I said in today’s post - it was SUBLIME, and more than met my high expectations. I love the heat so all good, but could have done without the viscious mosquitos

Positano was my favourite and Sorrento next. It was just the two of us in Positano. MAGICAL. We also went to Ravello, Capri, Anacapri, Amalfi, Pompei and stayed in a villa in Massa Lubrense. Also stayed in Naples for a day.

We vacationed with 10 other people later. Very old and dear school friends. We ate out a lot, cooked up a fresh storm in the villa, and ate gelato EVERY DAY. We were active, and hungry all the time!

The company, setting and food were INCREDIBLE. Extremely memorable and I feel blessed.

Lovely. I especially like the pictures with your friends. And also what you wore of course. I study your outfit, I'm normally not so interested in warm weather clothing but with our (new for our country) months of sun I'm looking into ways to look summery and stay protected. Suz, thanks for being as gracious and sweet as ever. I had fish every day - and it was AMAZING. My favourite. I loved the octopus too.

Adriana, I think it's best to cover up in the sun, hence no skimpy clothing. I also don't sun bath - I shade bathe. I am vigilant about sun protection and happy about it!

Sisi, Italy is extremely charming and I'm thrilled to have visited for the second time. Sooo much to love and appreciate. Locals were sooooo lovely too. Thanks for the kind compliment. *blushing*

Loooved looking through your pictures! Did you eat that sfogliatella in Naples, where it's a specialty? But of course one gets them in Positano and Sorrento as well. It's my absolute favorite Italian pastry! I have once made them myself for an Italian gathering. They came out really well, but it's too much work to make often, unfortunately.

Incredible! Is that a lobster roll pastry in pic 46? There's a little Italian bakery in Florida that hand makes these (I may have the name wrong) but they are wonderful.

Texstyle, a fair guess, but not a lobster pastry. It's a sweet breakfast pastry filled with AMAZING ricotta - Sfogliatella Napolitane.

Wonderful photos! They take me back a few years when DH and I stayed two weeks in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi. We were going to move on after a week, but it was such a great location that we stayed the entire time. We drove all over the Sorrento area and the Amalfi Coast. We loved Capri so much that we went there twice.

We were there early October and the weather was great.

Angie - yes, that is it actually. The italian woman I know makes this two ways, one is the "real" sfogliatella

with
orange-flavored ricotta,

and the other U.S. version is called the lobster tail and filled with pastry cream. These are one of the few sweets I like as I typically don't eat sweets.

sfogliatella, sometimes called a lobster tail in English, is a
shell-shaped filled Italian pastry native to Campania. Sfogliatella
means "small, thin leaf/layer", as the pastry's texture resembles
stacked leaves.
There is a distinction to be made between lobster tail and
sfogliatella, as they do not refer to the same pastry. The lobster tail
exists only in the United States and generally refers to a cream filled,
larger pastry.
