This light grey and white ensemble really appeals to me - I've saved the pictures from the Friday post and am mentally carrying them around with me for ideas for this spring. And that's where I've decided this look will work best for me: Spring. I recently bought the J Crew Maddies in a heathered pale grey. Fantastic pants - great fabric, great fit, great colour. But when I went to wear them for the first time, I paired them with black boots and hated every minute of that look all day long. I can't recall what sweater I wore with them, or what coat I had on, but I just didn't like it . I felt boring and uninteresting. I didn't think I minded a high-contrast look with footwear and pants - but I guess I do. I haven't worn the pants since.
I'm saving them for Spring, where I can wear them with more confidence. Metallic silver loafers and a pair of pale suede sneakers are waiting in my closet for me already!
Sorry - I know this has nothing to do with your initial post - but it hit a nerve I've been waiting to itch, I guess I agree with the others who are suggesting different footwear for your iterations here. Btw - I just bought a pale grey boyfriend cardi and am dying to try it out! I love yours !
