Leaning into the bad hair days

I am now 9 wks & 2 days past my last color and cut...and it shows. The bangs, are an overgrown mess, the grey is a reminder of how fast my hair grows. And I’m reduced to pulling it back with headbands. I feel like the elementary school me. Showing my WFH looks from today and Thursday & Friday of last week. I’ve taken off the slippers because I just could not bear to wear them all.day.every.day. So now I’m wearing the sneakers during the day, and the slippers when I change into lounge wear after work.
Anyway here’s what WFH, omg I need a hair cut looks like for me.

Re braids and pony tails, I need about another 2 weeks before the bangs are long enough to pull back into either, I can’t wait, right now, it’s just a smidge to short....

I like headbands especially second, the colorful one. The shoes definitely bring outfits into more polished category - fav outfit #3.
Your hair looks nice and healthy.

Looks great! I can’t pull off headbands — too high of a hairline — so I’m always jealous of those who can. I SO wanted the Alice in Wonderland look when I was small!

Question: if all the hairdressers are closed in the US how come US politicians and reporters still seem to have polished hair cuts and no dark or grey roots? Looks a bit like one rule for some ...

Brooklyn, one of the many mysteries of this virus, and of the way the US works, not all states are in “lock down’, and what is essential in one state is different than the next. So since I’m feeling generous, I’m assuming that all those people who continue to look well groomed are either very talented at self maintenance or in a non locked state.

Thanks for that. That’s kind of reassuring (in a “we’re all in this together” way) that you are actually seeing some presenters looking less than perfect. Do any of the men look like they need a haircut? I was thinking of them too.

Hairdressers are not shut here (beauticians are). Interestingly, the exemption for hairdressers was first subject to the caveat that no treatment should last for more than 30 minutes. That was greeted with howls of sexism - men could get their haircuts but women could not get their colour. So the 30 minute limit was removed and replaced with an advisory to make it as short as possible.

Super jealous of your headbands! My face shape doesn't suit them and my hair is too thick for me to sport them without getting a headache.

I like how the white one in #1 picks up the white in your shoes

You look great. I do sympathise, the lack of a hairstylist is the one grooming thing that has me bothered. Now I am glad that I am not more high maintenance, nail salons are closed and growing out acrylic nails is not fun but fortunately not something I have to worry about, but I do have a couple of friends who are fretting about their nails.

I like your sneakers! The pointed toe adds polish - is that a patent bow or tassels on the top?

I've either been wearing my hair out or piled up on my head. For any strands of my fringe that are still too short to plait, I twist & pin them along my hairline so it looks a little like a milkmaid braid from afar (with long hair, you can place other strands over the top to hide where the faux braid stops). A scarf tied in your hair can look nice too!

Yes- what Zaeobi said! Or French braid the bangs, gel- or even aloe if you don't have gel- helps.
