La Canadienne ramona- are they perfect??

Well, I sent back all the booties and tried these La Cannadienne boots that Maya had recommended.
Pros:
They are closest to a perfect fit in calf that I have found.
They are comfortable
waterproof
can wear with dresses and knee length skirts

Cons
PRICE!!! - never spent that much on boots but will they fit all my needs?
One boot is slightly larger than the other, causing a slight gap because of my different size very skinny calves.

Should I get black or brown- the brown is a slightly reddish and has black running through it. Can I wear with black jackets, etc.???
Big decision- I like the length- My calves are ratherr short and do not look great with really tall boots.

I think they look perfect. I don't notice any gaping. Length looks fine to me too. You are tall so your boots can go higher.

Brown seems more you and I think it's fine to wear it with black. Stay with brown.

Overall I think they're pretty perfect. Remind me why we're debating this?!

I don't notice the calf gap at all - if you hadn't mentioned it, there is no way someone would notice. But does it bother you - mentally or physically?

Definitely can wear with black as this looks like a pretty neutral brown. I think this color is more 'you', unless you need black more right now. These have a ladylike quality about them that Frye's don't have.

The color is gorgeous, the style impeccable. I think those can go the distance in looking fab for many years. They have a classic style about them - is that okay with you? Is any artistic boot need filled by your other boots? I think these are wonderful *gushing*.

They look pretty darn perfect from where I'm sitting! They fit you like a glove, they are classic, the heel height is perfect.....on and on and on. It seems like the brown is more your color. I think you could absolutely wear the brown with black jackets, especially knowing your overall color palette is earth tones.

I was looking at these boots on Zappos yesterday and wished that they came in grey. They look wonderful with your skirt and should be great with black too. I'm with you on the price, but these should be long lasting in style and quality. The heel shape gives them extra interest compared to the traditional knee high riding boot.

I think they're perfect, but if you think it's the boots that are different sizes and not your legs- maybe you can exchange them for a different pair in the same size? I do think the brown is best for you.

Chewy- it is my legs- I tried a few pairs and measured my legs- weird.
Ok- one more question- because I wear so much brown and earth tones would black be a better alternative? I do not want everything to be brown. Sometimes black is a nice contrast. I am confused- when is Angie coming back??
I know that brown is a better color for me but I want to get as much use as possible. On the other hand- black is an easier color to find on sale or on my thrifting days. Just thinking out load and freaking out about the price making sure they are worth it. I have done my homework- there are no better fitting 8 hour dress boots for my legs or feet. Ask my husband about all the boxes that have come and gone- ridiculous!!

Oh, wow, keep these! So fantastic on you. I do not see gaping either; are you sure it's the boot and not you? Most of us have one [insert body part here] slightly larger than the other. As Chewy said, if it is the boot I'm sure you can exchange them.

But I love everything about these boots. If you can stomach the price you should definitely keep them.

Jean- Not only do brown seem to fit with your colors better, I like the marbling effect of them better than the pure black. I do think with the black streaks you could get away with wearing the brown with black also.

Black boots are nice - especially if you don't have any. How many brown do you already have? How many black do you already have?

These seem to bridge the black/brown gap by having the black running through them.

Would you consider ordering in black too and comparing in person? That's what I would need to do. I just can't visualize well enough.

What perfect boots! Even though they are pricey, they meet all your objectives and they are comfortable 8 hour boots, your time and effort spent so far should make the decision to keep them easier. No more shipping back and forth, no longer will you be on the constant lookout for the perfect pair, you can move on! Definetly worth the $$$.

I love that color brown, I think much more versatile for your wardrobe than black, but you know best. With the various colors in the leather it makes it even more versatile and seems like it would work well with black too. Funny you ask about this today, I was going to post a similar question about leather coats. When you are investing so much, you want to make sure it's the best choice for your closet, I totally get it. I'm in the same boat.

You can wear these brown boots with black on top, but also with any of your earthy colors on top. If you have black boots, doesn't that mean you'll need to repeat black somewhere else in your outfit to balance out the look?

I have the La Canadienna Tahra boots in the same brown color and I LOVE them! They get a big endorsement from me! They fit all of my needs - I wear them with skinny jeans and bare legs, can walk through puddles without getting wet, and I have yet to find an outfit the style doesn't work with. My only problem is I want a pair of cognac leather boots too, and La Canadienne seems to favor dark brown and black.

Perfect boots, Jean! I have the same dilemma with black/brown in boots. I always lean towards brown as I feel that they look more interesting and alive than black and also they should work perfectly with your wardrobe!
iam with you on the price. I had the same price shock last week on my FS boots ($330 with tax!) so I can relate completely. However I have decided that I better have one pair of great boots I love than 2 pairs of more economical boots which are OK. Also if you have hard time to fit your feet or legs for any reason you should just grab the ones which fit perfectly and no regrets!

I think these look amazing! If you can find skinny-calf boots that fit, you know that is a huge battle won. Worth spending for, IMHO.

As has been said over and over, they meet all your needs (well, the price could be lower, but other than that...). I have never heard a LC boot owner regret the purchase, by the way. Makes me want a pair myself.

Re the brown vs black debate: My coloring (and wardrobe) is much more black-friendly/-centric than yours and I was sooooo happy to finally get a second pair of boots last year in BROWN. [Which I changed to cordovan, but you get the point.]

As also mentioned by others, brown looks great with black + will work well with all your earthy shades etc. IMO the reverse is not the case...black is generally not as flexible. The brownish shade looks so much richer with a lot of the blues, plums, and greens I like to wear -- let alone the ones you like!

Last night I saw my bronze olive knit skirt in my closet and it made me think how your boots go so beautifully with it, but black boots just wouldn't do it justice!

Thanks everyone!!! I am almost certain I am keeping- I think brown is better. Waiting for the Angie approval,
April, my calves are 13".
Nothing has come close to fitting even when it states that the calf width is 13 , it never is.

Greenglove, you're tall -- I'm assuming you wear a bigger shoe size?

The stated calf circumference and shaft height is based on the brand's fit size (usually 7 or 8). The larger the size, the larger the calf/taller the shaft.

So I feel for all you narrow-calved women with will larger shoe sizes!

Me, I have the opposite problem -- larger calf, smaller shoe size (ridiculously small for my height) -- and can't wear most boots! [Though true wide calf boots are usually just large enough to put me in your predicament.]

Vix, I thought that might be the case. I wear an 8, 8 1/2 or 9 depending on the shoe. I have wide feet. I got these in the 8 and they fit. Sounds like a very sticky issue with small fir and wider calves. No wonder my friend who has narrow calves and small feet does not have a problem finding boots that fit her calves!

I am bumping for our dear Angie who must be exhausted.
