This is how I shop : I start in August with a clear sense of direction. I’ve just done the tracking wears stats, so I know exactly what I wear/need.

Come October, usually my last month of Fall/Winter shopping : wardrobe holes are plugged, retail items are starting to look stale, I’ve been exposed to the season trends for too long, I still have some budget left : that’s when I get into trouble. That’s when I shop for the things I always want to buy but have enough of : blazers, shirts, coats.

So, I’ve bought a cords burgundy blazer.
You can shoot at it : see the plastic thing hanging on my tummy? that’s the tag, I can return it.
Buying a blazer was not in the plan. The plan was to wear suits and stop wearing separates. That said, I do have an old pair of navy wool trousers to pair with it.
I tried to style it a few ways, with a light knit of the same colour I bought with it (and can return, too), or with my usual shirts.
I tried it with ice, inspired by Angie’s last ensemble post.
I dug an old necklace out of a drawer, because I’m not used to light knit under jacket, and my neck feels weirdly naked.

Ok, and I also bought an olive trenchcoat - you can shoot at it, too - just because I’ve been exposed to olive on this blog, I suspect. That colour didn’t work for me in the past, but I find it looks better with grey hair now : am I delusional?
I think the cut is ok? the storm flap not laying flat in the back bothers me a little, but not too much.
(The velvet blazer is layered underneath, so the trench is filled up to the max here).

TIA for your help, dear forum.
