I might need to change my moniker

I am definitely drawn to wearing longer skirts. I have spent the whole week in longer dresses /skirts and wonder if I am losing the tomboy style. I have kept my love of comfortable shoes ( these days birkenstocks) and lack of accessories though.
pic 1: wiw found a more fitted top for my pleated skirt.
pic 2 : added a denim jacket
pic 3: polka dot maxi dress
pic 4: added a cardigan
pic 5 : found a blush top for my black and rose skirt
pic 6 : added my denim jacket.
I'm on the hunt for a more fitted jacket or perhaps I stick to cardigans when i want a more fitted look.

Your new top is perfect with the pleated skirt. I love the polka dot dress on you. I suggest a shorter or just more fitted denim jacket.

I tend towards natural tomboy too but have acknowledged I have a fair amount of boho-lite in summer.

Could you take the word sporty out of sporty natural and just have Natural? Isn’t that a Kibbe term? There might be different sorts of Natural- some Fabbers may know.
I so love that new skirt in 5-6. The blush top is a great colour match.

You look gorgeous in all these skirts (and dress)! I wasn’t sure about the pleated one when you bought it, but gosh, how great you got it! It looks amazing on you in these outfits.

Like Katerina I also wasn't sure about the pleated skirt initially but now it looks amazing. Fabbers sure give excellent tips don't they, and well done for executing it so well. I agree with JenniNZ regarding removing the Sporty. I see Edgy Natural. Probably isn't one named that as I just made it up ;).

You look great & I’m confused. How do skirts conflict with “sporty” or “tomboy”? 2 & 3 are my faves here—the denim jacket is great. If anything prevents you from running, climbing trees, or other sporty activities, i think it would be the sandals, not the long, comfy skirts. (But it’s summertime, so you can kick off the sandals when there a volleyball to bump).

You look beautiful in all of these. I might have mentioned it before, but the floral skirt is so pretty! I am not the best with monikers, but looking forward to what you come up with.

I don't know much about the monikers so can't advise there. I do think you look great. I especially like the black and white dress (both on its own and with the fabulous green cardigan). I think it would also be great with the denim jacket.

I loved wearing long skirts this summer - they work wonderfully for you ( lots of great outfits ). Maybe the summer brings softer side of your sporty-natural style in action. Or you need to add “pretty” to the “tomboy” - like “pretty tomboy with a softer side and natural style” .

famous (in my eyes) Marc Jacobs quote when asked how a woman should wear a skirt:

"like a boy!"

ETA: IOW, don't mince, swagger. I think you've got that down in your outfits. Totally consistent with tomboy.

@Katerina - interesting that you were unsure about the pleated skirt. It is style I liked but wasn't sure how I could wear as it is completely out of my normal style ie bright colour and long flowing skirt with pleats. But I feel comfortable in it now.
@ Stagiaire fash - I guess it was the idea of a flowing skirt not being tomboy and it is a definite shift in style as I am accustomed to wearing pants. Yes shoes could hamper the tree climbing but boy are they comfortable. I suppose they are they natural, casual part.
@ Tanya - thank you. I was unsure about the skirt at first as it is so different from what I normally wear. I need to find some black boots to wear it with in autumn/ winter later.
@ CarolS the polka dot dress was a thrift find when I was in lockdown. I had to wear a singlet under it so it was appropriate for work but I think it works.
cat2 - yes YLF is great for getting ideas and encouraging you to try new things.
slim cat - thank you ...maybe soft edgy natural?
vildy - What an amazing quote - I tend to wear most things like a boy...dainty would never come into my moniker

@ approprio - yes I know. I do live in the Southern Hemisphere though and it is going into summer. However it might mean I could get a bargain.
Thank you Runcarla - I can understand what the quote implies but hard to find visuals.

hmm -- not sure why the links don't work, so let's try this...
First one is the one that looked to me like Sally and her blue pleated skirt.

While I am at it...

Second woman I would say has swagger, even though she's in heels. (She reminds me a bit of Brooklyn in the way she carries clothes)

Third is another one I just like -- great skirt, great confident look overall...

And of course, woman running across the moors in the tulle skirt was very much living that statement, I think!!

Great photos CarolS...thank you! I was trying to see what top she had on in the photo. Maybe I can do a copycat sometime. The boots in pic 3 are fabulous too. I found a few more summer versions of the skirts with swagger (I love that term....like wearing a skirt like a boy).

is *not* behaving as though you need to keep your

To me, tomboy is a state of mind where you don't risk practicality for femininity, rather than specifically the clothes you wear (though it might manifest as such).

Shevia Its interesting that we associate skirts with feminity and daintiness. What about kilts.. They are not dainty.
Zaeobi - Great video. For me it comes down to shoes and looseness of clothes. In some ways a flowing skirt is less restrictive than tight jeans.

Love all the inspo pics. Look at that boxy cuff on the 1st one of Sally's!
This is such an interesting debate for me as one who has had a big chunk of Natural Tomboy in my style from young. Swagger is such an accurate and descriptive word for this moniker! I am realising I should stop fighting with my innate style.
