This is the kind of thing that drives me nuts about fashion. First off, what makes her opinion so valid? Who even cares if someone likes a color you don't like?! It's just a color for ___ sake!
I saw a similar thing the other day about "styles that age you" and it compared longer, tunic length tops (aging) with shorter hip length tops (look, that takes off 10 years!).
Well, one good thing about aging is a longer memory and I know for a fact that not that long ago the tunic length one was the "take 10 years off" look and the shorter one was the one we were told was aging.
The main thing I always go back to on this subject is an article from years back in Martha Stewart magazine (and the real reason I never subscribed to the magazine and developed a serious dislike of her). In the article she had just moved into a new house and had people over but not enough furniture yet so they sat on cushions on the floor. Someone present joked that if they told people this was the fashionable way to do things everyone would sell their furniture and sit on cushions. Such arrogance and smugness, and then she actually printed it, which was even worse because she didn't even realize (or care) that she was insulting the people who were the source of all her money.
Who even are these people that think they are so perfect they can dictate what the rest of us should like? I'm always between wanting to scream and wanting to laugh at them for being so clueless about life.
Sorry for the soapbox...I know you are joking. It's just a subject that always sets me off!
ETA, amen to Gryffin. We cross posted on the same thoughts, hers eloquent, mine long winded!
