There’s a bit of a story to go with this one.

So as some of you may know, last spring/summer/fall I started walking a LOT-brisk pace, in the mornings usually, typically with the dog. It was fun, I challenged myself to get a certain number of steps, I got to explore my neighborhood and the surrounding area, my dog loved it.

In winter it’s hard to do that. It’s been dark before I leave and after I get home, and for many reasons it’s not very safe to walk where I live in the dark. But the past month the increasingly longer days have helped.

I joined some virtual run/walk groups, and one of them had a team contest last week where we were in teams of 90 people racing by distance 4,072 miles across the US. I’ve never done anything like that before. I’m really not a runner, and I set out to walk 20 miles last week. Between Monday-Friday, I’d actually logged 90.
I’m still stunned at how that happened. Many, many smaller walks added together. I am tired but not too sore, and super amazed. I was proud of our team.

Anyway, here are some walking shots over the last several weeks-athletic gear for walks between 5-10k, regular clothes for short walks.
