I decided to just let the stylist do whatever she wanted to do because I am clearly not a good judge of my own hair. I'm ambivalent about the results. My camera is unavailable so phone pictures will have to do.

She layered it quite a bit with a lot of very short layers towards the front. Not sure how it will look when straight. It definitely brought out the wave more, but I don't know. It feels a little bit over styled to me. Maybe it just needs some time to settle down. Anyway, I figured after all of my whining and sulking you guys at least deserved pictures of the results...

I love it Maya! I am always in awe of how well you wear a fringe! I'm going to the hairdressers myself in 2 hours. A bit of a record for me as its my second of the year already. I'm feeling a bit nervous too - eeep!

I really like it, especially the way it shows in the last photo. It has a lovely, tousled look to it. I think once you've lived with it for a few days ~ and washed and dried/styled it at home ~ you'll like it more. Well, at least I hope you do.

I think it's a very flattering style for your face.

Love the touseled look. I always feel "overstyled" after the salon. I think you'll enjoy the cut more when you just do your own thing.

What a loaded question Mae...

It is definitely a unique experience. They have actual changing rooms, like you would find in a store, just to put on your robe. Obviously you're not getting undressed so the need for a changing room was unclear to me, but superfluous luxury seems to be part of the brand. You are then seated in an area where you have the option of indulging in a muffin, panini or assorted lattes from the little in-house cafe. You are then escorted to your stylist for a consultation, after which the shampoo girl washes and conditions your hair in addition to providing a scalp massage and bringing you a cup of tea (or whatever your preference is).

I saw the big man himself out and about (meaning Nick). He appeared as gracious and charming as he did on WNTW.

Oh, I posted at the same time as a bunch of you just did! Thank you. I think I just need to let it settle down for a little while. She was a great stylist and took a lot of time to really teach me how to wear it in numerous different ways. My ambivalence has nothing to do with her skill. I'm just not used to it i guess.

Oh, that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Sometimes over the top can be fun. I love it when the salon serves treats. And the scalp massage? Mmmmm. AND you saw Nick? We should have demanded salon photos. I hope he's sticking with the short look.

It was kind of shaggy and medium-y Mae. It wasn't the long ponytail that everyone hated :p but not quite as short as I have seen it on the show.

In any case, I have a lot of respect for him. He has created an amazingly successful and unique experience with his salon, techniques, and products. He has every right to be an arrogant a*hole, and yet he appears to be anything but.

The results look great from this end. The cut is doing something very...interesting...for your face. I can't articulate what, exactly (just that whatever it is, is GOOD). Maybe playing up intriguing angles or something? Looks very downtown.

After looking at the pics again I really like it as well. I thought it was wet, but after looking at the third picture again it looks like it's got product in it. I hope you like it, Maya! It looks like it's working with the curl in your hair very well.

Love the new doo! It's very flattering and the soft layers are beautiful around your face.
I'm sure will grow to love this style, it seems like it would be very easy and fun to style.

Please know that I have a very trained and discerning eye when it comes to hair, 34 yrs, of training will do that:)...The length is PERFECT...the layering technique is PERFECT and the soft fringe is PERFECT...I for one couldn't be happier for you, she did a wonderful job as i said "capturing the nature of your hair" in the most flattering way!!!

Maya I love it!!! And good on you letting the stylist go - was that hard to do or were you just at the stage where you were happy to hand over to an expert?

I can't wait to hear how you go when you first attempt to deal with it yourself... I tried to do my new hairdo for the first time today and realised I put the wrong product in initially hence it now being a touch crunchy LOL Oh well, live and learn!!

Taylor - if you can work that out, I'll be booking in with you for sure!

Ooo lovely! I have to admit I wasn't completely sure when i first saw the pics, but the more I look at them the more I like them. I agree with what someone posted earlier, the cut really flatters your face somehow.
