For "Bombshells" who'd like a day off

I wore this outfit today not knowing that I would want to discuss something altogether different by the time the pics for this outfit got posted. I remember when I bought this sweater Marshall Field's (oh how I miss Field's) I fell in love with the color. It happens to be a Marshall Field's label wool sweater. The color is a rich creamy salmon pink and looks fabulous with gold. Oddly enough this outfit screams bombshell.

The discussion threads have definitely forced me to consider what IS my style and how I would define it based on my lifestyle and interests because Bombshell just doesn't capture all of me.

Some days I'm the "artist", at other times I am city girl on the go, sometimes I am really just going for girl next door.

I am not sure that you could completely eradicate bombshell with that gorgeous body, but I do detect a strong undercurrent of ladylike in the outfits I have seen you wearing. Even this one, even though it is a "wow" I find the tulip skirt and narrow belt to be very ladylike.

First of all you look gorgeous. Bombshell is not the first thing I think of (although I will not deny your bombshell figure!). You have an artist's eye (as far as this non-artist can tell) for color and proportion and that really stands out in all your outfits.

I agree Dianthus -- I have what I have, and unless I'm going outside in a barrel (old school style :-D) there is going to be a little bombshell in just about everything I wear.

Shevia -- you are so sweet -- I enjoy color and find that it is the inspiration for most of my outfits. Cut and proportion are important but secondary elements.

Day Vies, #7 really appeals to me for some reason. It's artsy and fun and not bombshell at all. I think it's just everything combined - your hair, the white glasses, fun striped shirt and the boots. We could get a latte from Intelligentsia and enjoy a sunny afternoon at Millenium Park : )

I enjoy seeing all these outfits. Today's outfit with the pink sweater looks great on you! Eclectic Ladylike Classic seems like a fitting rubric from what I can see. I'm glad that it seems to resonate with you also.

First of all, I love everything about your outfit. Sows how well you know your shape, your coloring, just everything. You have amazing style. Thank you so much for posting, it really helps to see someone who is so put together!

Second, I also miss Marshal Fields. Macy's just isn't the same.

Marshall Field's! We were a Dayton's town, but grew to love Marshall Fields. . . It's been harder to adapt to Macy's, but I'm working on it! Does M.F. love mean you're a Chicago girl?

I hear you, day vies, about how body type can sometimes steer your fashion choices in a way you may not entirely wish to go. Love that coral top on you.

What I'm seeing is that the extra layer tends to debombshell you (cardi, blazer, jean jacket). If you put another layer with the coral sweater though, it would detract from the super clean line you have going on in your top and skirt, which I love. So you can just pick depending on the needs of the day.

The colour of your sweater in your pics at the top is just amazing on you. You wear these bright colours so well.

MNsara - DH took the picture in #2 and frequently refers to me as "my Michelle". I also happen to be from Chicago and I used to receive paychecks with Dayton Hudson Marshall Field's across the top.

Adelfa -- I could not agree more. I realized that layers help camouflage the curves as I pulled pics together for this post. Layers are harder to pull off in the summer but it certainly provides options. And your eagle eye did notice that jacket would have ruined the line of today's outfit.

I don't think I am consistent style wise, so I can relate. I do have a strong preference for pattern and more cutesy stuff in summer, yet I like simplicity in winter. I take it you are not too taken by the bombshell descriptor? We use it quite positively around these parts. It is more of a celebration of femininity and tastefulness, never the average "run of the mill" sexy lady look.
...and I do commiserate, I am quite curvaceous IRL so everything gets bombshelled quite easily and that.gets.old. Also, in all honesty, sometimes is not what I want to go for, being hispanic and all.

Zap -- no offense taken by the "bombshell" descriptor. I just feel that it's not an authentic representation of all that I am. It's kind of a knee jerk response to being typecast that I have been resisting since starting a professional career many moons ago. It's a nice persona to play with every once in a while.

I had a breast reduction but prior to that I got va-voom! comments all the time. As you know, I am so not a bombshell persona or dresser, but it was inevitable, along with the "you should feel lucky!" comments. It's frustrating to feel typecast by factors you have no control over and societal assumptions.

Beautifully put together and polished in every look! I think you have a wonderful sense of color and shape - kind of lady like, a little retro (tulip skirt), sophisticated.

I worked for MF's sister company in Seattle (Frederick and Nelson) and agree very much that it is sad the "old" stores are no longer with us. Times change I suppose.

I agree with Joy, your dressing style seems to be "eclectic" which is great cause it keeps the outfits from looking boring. I really like the skirt and salmon pink top on you.

Hi Day Vies --

I really enjoyed your thoughts on the "Calling all Bombshells" thread; lots of Catch-22 moments with that style.

I always love seeing what you've put together; you really know how to pick the silhouettes and colors that work for you no mattter which direction you want to embrace.
