I long ago gave up on trying to make "must-have" garments work for me. Button up shirts, whether denim or white, just don't work because of my arms and back (rather muscular). No trench coat for the same reason. Same for denim jackets. Bootcuts/flares are just emotionally uncomfortable for me, because all that fabric gets tangled around my feet and I can't walk in them.
I have one great pair of jeans. I see great fitting/comfy jeans on pretty much all of those lists. I actually have several pairs of jeans that I deliberately keep in good condition, unlike my jeans I wear to work that I asked the guys to shoot with shotguns (dystopia is my jam LOL)
I have some equestrian/riding style boots, which I see on a lot of those lists. This style boot has almost always been in rotation in my wardrobe in one form or another, simply because they're so versatile (even to a dystopian minimalist).
I have my aviator shades. I actually have two pairs of aviators, my Revo ones for serious protection, and my Ray Ban ones that are good for ambience or on cloudy days. The Ray ban pair has a cracked lens I need to have repaired.
I have a brown ankle bootie, which i see on those lists frequently. I've only recently figured out how to make ankle booties work for my new lifestyle, and a higher shaft Chelsea boot with a flat heel is how
I have a couple nice pairs of flats, but not the classic ballet flat I see on every "must have" list. I just don't wear them that often. Sneakers are my thing, and I often see those on the must-have lists, so I guess I'm on point there.
I have a never-worn-anymore classic nude pump that I refuse to get rid of because they are a beautiful pair of Ferragamos that are nice to look at from time to time. I know some of you HAVE know what I mean
I have a moto style jacket in a textured scuba type material. That's the closest I'm going to get to a black blazer or leather jacket unless I win the lottery and can afford one of those Rick Owens leather jackets.
I have some t-shirts, none white because I can't keep whites white. I don't much like stripes because they seem to highlight every hill and valley. I recently found an interesting navy sweater with a white horizontal stripe. We'll see if it makes the grade in actual wear.
I am actually surprised at how many items I have that fit into the "must have classic" lists, because I came into this thinking I had none LOL. I like the way YLF makes me look at myself
