Thanks for all the encouragement - I agree! I plan to wear this dress every week, either for work or to church or out. Being cotton makes it very versatile to dressing down or up.
I noticed at an outlet shop that they haven't reduced this dress at all (I paid $100 for it, the most I have ever paid for a dress apart from for weddings) which is interesting
To all those who commented on the tailoring - I did it myself. My Mum pinned some darts but she couldn't get it to work. my SIL who is a dressmaker suggested doing a sewn down pleat on the front. She pinned one side for me.But then once I had sewn it I had to unpick it as I had sewn in a line of pins!
Then I pinned the other side myself and the first side again. As alterations go it isn't a top job and while I was doing it I was saying to myself "next time I'll go to alterations place!" But as someone at work pointed out, if someone is looking close enough to spot the faults in my alterations they are looking way to close at my chest!
Beth Ann - It does look floral, but it is actually a print that is supposed to look like sequins
JG - that is SO true. I tried my white jacket with it and it just didn't sit right. I am wearing cardis a lot with my work wardrobe, more than I expected.
