Favorite lipsticks?

I was inspired by torontogirl's 'not' list, and jussie's moniker post, and it got me thinking about lipstick... My go-to shade was discontinued several years ago, and I have yet to find a replacement that makes my heart flutter.

I keep a Clinique Chubby Stick in Richer Raisin on hand for quick and easy pop of color if I am out and about. I also like to keep one or two nudes and one bold color + liners in rotation. Currently, those are Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury with Lisa Watier Nude liner; and Chili by MAC with Auburn liner. Both are a matte formula and feel dry after a short time.

What are your favorite lipsticks? Do you have a signature or favorite go-to shade or formula? Do you use liner? Gloss?

Gramma wore a coral/peachy color every day of her life, and Mom wouldn’t be caught dead in anything other than chapstick.

I’ve always seen it as optional since I tend to play up my eyes, so a simple swipe of something from a Clinique giveaway or Burt’s Bees has been enough.

But now that I’m wearing more color on my face - red or blue rimmed glasses - I’m starting to feel like I need more. Will be interested to see others responses.

For the past 9 months or so I’ve been wearing Givenchy black. Irl It’s sort of a no color color. Which suits my minimalist makeup style.

I have a mini-size of every Clinique chubby stick ... My husband got me the whole kit and caboodle for Christmas (he really gets me haha)

Those are my absolute favorites, but I also love Bobbi brown "rose blossom", loreal lipgloss in sangria, Almay lipgloss in plum, and Mac syrup and plumful.

I have a lot of problems with eczema and my lips are super sensitive; all these types are fine from that angle too

Every time I find a favorite they discontinue .
I lean towards a brownish pink with a matt finish.
Sebastian used to make a color that I loved and stocked up on but I’m out now, so I’m watching this thread for ideas .

My favorites are YSL Glossy Stain #9 and MAC Cockney - both are bright red.

Do you still have a bit of your old favorite left? You could send it to Three Custom (link: https://www.threecustom.com/home.php?cat=253) and have them replicate it. One of my coworkers recently used their service for this exact reason and has been very happy with both the experience and the product. If you don’t have a bit left to send them, you could look in their archives - maybe it was somebody else’s favorite too.

I like lipstick that is MLBB (my lips but better). I have a few that I wear.

NARS - Dolce Vita - much love for this one
Bobbi Brown - Brown
Clinique - Bare Pop
MAC - Smoked Almond

These are all warm toned. I am not a fan of red for myself although I do like it on others.

Being a dyed-in-the-wool high-contrast person, I am very fond of a bright lip against my pale skin. My current favs are reds, fuschias, hot pinks, magentas and orchids from the Amuse Bouche line by Bite Beauty. They all contain only food-grade ingredients and are quite moisturizing even though they are highly pigmented and mostly matte. The lasting high pigment even helps even out my asymmetrical lip line, and they don't bleed.

old chic, I like the lip colours I've tried from Bite Beauty too! I can't remember the names though and am not at home to check.

Right now I'm mostly wearing "Tryst" from Vapour Organics. Buildable neutral brick red. I also have an old creamstick/crayon/liner thingie from 100% Pure that I really love, in a "deep nude berry" shade, but alas it's a discontinued product. Love that it can serve as either a liner or a standalone colour and it has great staying power for a natural product.

Next up on my to-try list are Kosas (probably "Undone" and "Fringe") and Silk Naturals. I'm a little bit of a lip colour fiend since it's hard for me to wear eye make-up (eczema/allergies).

Taylor, high five. I also like a brownish pink. I like low sheen, not frosty lipsticks.

I used to love Elizabeth Arden smoky plum. When it was discontinued I moved to Bobbi Brown Bahama brown (expensive) and MAC creme in your coffee.

I have been wearing bright lip colour the last year, having moved away from more neutral tones. I wear a number of lipsticks my current favourites are:
Tom Ford - Plum Lush - a matt lipstick that is moisturising

Bobbi Brown - Raspberry Pink - a bright pop of colour

Chanel - No 5 Red

It is a shame that Tom Ford lip colour is so expensive, as it is a beautiful rich colour.

My favorite red is Urban Decay F-Bomb (I hate the name, ugh). I also like Bite Beauty's Liquorice (very dark red, almost black) and Caramel (peachy nude).

I don't often wear lipstick. In fact, I rarely wear makeup at all. I would like to find a my-lips-but-better shade that I can throw on with minimal makeup, but such a shade eludes me. I should just try clear lip gloss!

Neutrogena Moisturesmooth Colorstick. In berry brown—very nice feel on the lips, an inexpensive daily MLBB shade.

NARS-Valkyrie for daily/neutral and Red Square for super bright. Very pigmented matte lip crayon. Not drying for a matte lip color.

I like hot pink, frosty pastel pink, plum, and occasionally coral.
I have never tried a bright true red, but would like to.
Revlon has two types of long wear lipstick, one is 24 hour and the other is more like a 12 hour. They are both fabulous, the 24 hour is very hardy but doesn’t have as large a range of colours as the 12 hour one. Also the 24 hour is high gloss and the 12 hour is matte.
I really recommend both of these.

I like Clinique in silvery moon. It is similar to an the old Chanel framboise glacée that was discontinued. I got the plain sheer color and now it is discontinued but they sell it with the buit-in lip moisturizer which is a little more expensive. Maybe it is just the store (LT) or the season but today they had very few colors at the Clinique counter.

I like lipstick more as I get older. It must be a warm color like coral or orange , not shiny, and have plenty of pigment. I like the Revlon color "Kiss Me Coral". Jussie, I need to try the 24 hour one but am concerned that it may be too dryi

Lipstick is so personal! I'm guilty of buying new ones way too frequently and end up with several versions of the same color. This habit has taught me a few things though: (1) it is worth it to me to use "premium" rather than "drugstore" brands because the latter always have scent/taste and I can't stand it; (2) my natural lip color is pale pinky-purple and thus makes any lipstick I put on look more pink than it looks in the tube, and (3) also because of my natural lip color, anything peach, orange, or coral looks "off" on me.
So my current faves are:
Butter London sheer wisdom in nutmeg, good on its own or to put over other colors
Clinique almost lipstick, good old black cherry is more or less mlbb for me
Clinique sangria pop, this is my dramatic shade
Ulta brand lipstick in sugar&spice is a good everyday mauve and doesn't have scent/taste in spite of low price point

I just purchased a new one that's promising: Becca lipstick in mocha. On me it's sort of rosy bronze. Seems to be a nice creamy moisturizing formula.

La Ped, I am thinking of trying Kosas lipstick too. I am not sure which colour would work for me. I have only seen it on dark haired people. The colours are gorgeous.

I have never been a lipstick person but as I’ve gotten older it seems my natural lip color has faded a little bit so I have been trying to find one that I can apply and forget about. I like the Lipsense liquid lip colors, they really do last for 8 -10 hours. But it’s a pain having to order them and wait and I think they’re pricey. Recently I got a Revlon 16 hour Colorstay in Bare Maximum and so far I like it. It’s a very subtle “me but better” color. And doesn’t dry my lips.

I am a recent convert to this It Cosmetics “Your Lips But Better” stain pencil (Romantic Rose for me). I am not a bold/bright lip person (it looks all wrong on me), but I like some definition and a bit of color. This YLBB stays put well, is not drying, and I can wear it alone or layer a lipstick over it. For years I have been a fan of MAC Sophisto for a slightly bolder (for me) color, and My current favorite neutral everyday lipstick is Laura Mercier in Lychee Parfait.

All Natural Face "sweet wine" and Just Pure Minerals "Samba" (warm red)-both Etsy shops. They look bold in the tube but dont go on heavy and are pretty low contrast mlbb on me. I use an Aveda no color lipliner to avoid bleeding, but is overly soft.

I have tried using "clean green" brands for the last few years and have experimented with a lot of colors (more than usual for me) as I was mostly ordering online. My favorite color is now discontinued - Madam Mina from Ilia Beauty. It is a mauve nude color.
I replaced it with Clove + Hallow Desert Rose (less mauve, more rosy nude) and Clove + Hallow Sugar Plum (berry mauve). I don't mix colors but wear only one at a time.
My other favorite right now is Hush + Dotti Posy (a deep plum color).
So I currently have about 5 lipstick colors (those above and a red from Youngblood lipsticks - but I find the matte red too dry).
I like using clean brands (natural ingredients) because I sometimes eat my lipstick (not from the tube though).

I like warm bright pinks, brownish pinks/corals and the occasional red. My Youngblood is almost over so I will look to this thread for a possible replacement.
