I usually don't wear sweatshirts because in general I don't think the bottom band flatter my hips. However, a couple of years ago, I had a grey sweatshirt with an acceptable fit. It was mixed materials (the arms were glittery), and I really liked it. I wore it for both casual and more dressy occasions and styled with e.g. pencil skirts and chic pants. Sadly, it looked "worn" after about one year. If I see something similar again, and at a reasonable price, I may be interested, but I am not on the lookout for it.
Unless sweatshirts are dressy or mixed materials or are worn in an intentional way (colour and/or style wise), I tend to think they look boring. But I know they are comfortable, and I have nothing against others wearing them.
