Battle of the denim skirts - ETA #4 is here

Dear ladies, I need your help. I want to get a new denim skirt for spring, and ordered those 3 in finds. I got them on deep discount, but unfortunately I had to gamble with sizing since my usual sizes were not available. If you think I need different sizes a can try stalking but it doesn’t look very promising.
My family is no help - they like them all and telling me to keep all 3. But I don’t need 3 denim skirts regardless of great price. So please help me decide - which one you like the best. I will not disclose my opinion just yet because I don’t want to sway you in any direction.
First one is Scotch and Soda in S, described as running small.
Second is Whistles UK 6 described as true to size. Third one is G-Star Raw in XS described as running small.

ETA - #4 was recommended by Angie and it arrived today. I ordered it in my usual size, it is roomy, especially around the waist, not so much arround the hips. My family like this one the best. DH said that this one is the most feminine, and DD said that it is the cutest. What do you think, is this the winner?

Well fit-wise , they all look great . Where would be wearing it ? To work or just for casual ? If I had to start eliminating , #1 would be my least favourite .

Anchie — it’s difficult to compare because they are of different lengths. And you haven’t given much information as to how you intend to style it. That said I prefer the length of first one it’s more versatile. Middies are harder to style in my opinion. But the middies seems to fit a bit better.

They all look great on you, so I don't think you can go wrong. My preference, purely based which styles/cut I like, is first #2, then #1 and finally #3. I think that #2 and #3 have a similar ( A-line) cut, so I would keep only on of those two, and would also keep #1 if you want to keep more than one.

Good point lisa p - I plan to wear it more casually- similar like in the photos, with sneakers and a top, for neighborhood walk, running errands and hanging arround home. Maybe with sandals and blouse for meeting friends for coffee in the city when that becomes possible. Definitely not for work.

Similar to your family, I like all three on you. My personal favorite, if it were me, is #1 because it is shapely but don't know your own feelings about that.

Interesting that #1 got opposite feedback. This one is knee length pencil and other 2 are a-line midis. I don’t mind that is shorter since it is for casual wear. I hope it is still long enough. Here is photo of #1 from behind

My vote is #2.

#1 seems a little more...edgy? Rocker? than your usual style, and I think the pencil/wiggle skirt cut will make it less comfortable for casual.

#3 almost doesn't look like a denim skirt! I think because of the dark wash. It almost looks like something you could wear to work, which it sounds like isn't the brief here.

#2 does read as more casual, I think because of the front buttons and medium wash. I think it will effectively casualize some of your existing tops (you have trouble with summer casual, right?). The wider cut will make it more comfortable for family walks/picnics/etc. I think the front buttons also have a 70s feel, which again is a vibe I see elsewhere in your wardrobe so I think it will fit in well.

They are all quite flattering on you though so if you prefer a different one I think you will be just fine!

Depending what you like, pencil or A line. Personally, I prefer #3, it looks to me very elegant and versatile, but #1 is great as pencil skirt. Probably not help you.

SarahDB - yes, I struggle with summer casual and hope that denim skirt will add some variety. I must admit I think along the same lines as you. #2 feels most comfortable of all, but I worry about gaping buttons, otherwise it would be a clear winner.

Mirjana - #3 is aslo very nice, it is very dark with uniform wash, so it doesn’t show details in photos very well. This one is made of very light weight denim, while other 2 are more thick.

Will be easy to style and fits well.

You could have the front buttons turned faux and the placket stitched
and then get an invisible zipper put into the side.

I like #3 skirt best. The length and colour are just fab. I can imagine the buttons on the second skirt puts some restrain on the styling options?

Contrary to popular opinion, my favorite is #1. It looks the most like what I would wear a denim skirt for -summer errands, coffee dates, and casual work days- and says “energetic, practical, cool, modern, feminine.” The longer ones speak the opposite to me, being fussier, warmer, and harder to pair with casual tops.

I can’t really speak to how they fit on you, because denim fit has so much individual character in how stretchy, how stiff, or how it feels in the weather of the day. But they all look like the right size.

I think #1 would work best for the activities that you described. The second skirt looks a bit too long for you (imho) and in the pictures, the colour of the third skirt is a bit too strong to look like a neutral - but it may be my monitor!

They all look great, I would go with the one that feels most comfortable. I like the button details in #2.

#2 definitely appeals to me the most; I have a real sugar eye for button front midis. #3 would be my second choice; it looks versatile but maybe a little less distinctive than #2. I know I wouldn’t reach for a pencil skirt for casual outfits, so #1 would be out for me, but it does look good on you.

#3 seems the most versatile - the thinner material would make it better for summer, the plainness of it serves as a great canvas for all sorts of styling options, and I think the shape looks more forgiving for weight fluctuations, if that is a concern.

I would keep #1 and #3. #2 and #3 are much alike but the light weight fabric sounds more useful for summer. #1 would be easiest to style ( like jeans) and I reach for a denim pencil skirt most. Remember that they may shrink and/ or fade in the wash. Look for any color transfer too.

I think #1 is a little snug looking which might be fine with you. I really like the other two so I would go with comfort and versatility. In my climate (NC) the lighter fabric would be better for summer. You have a great figure!

Funny how varied the opinions are. My least favorite is 3. I really like 1 and 2 -- 1 is more casual (I would wear it), 2 could go to work for a smart-casual workplace or be dressed down.

I like #2 the best, then #3. However I'm not into pencil skirts ( too restricting and traditional for me ) and when I've got skirt with front buttons I hardly wear it . Skirt in lighter material would win for warm summer and would look great with other denim pieces ( white or mid blue jacket or shirt, linen ).

Forgot to mention that even though #1 looks snuggliest, it is actually the biggest and roomiest. But because of different cut it doesn’t look that way.

You debombshell for work all week. Go for the swish (2) on the weekends! It is much more practical than #1, which will have you tugging & adjusting all day. I can’t picture anything you could wear with 1 but not 2.

Golly olly. Many varied opinions! My favorite is 2 for the lighter coloured denim, the sleekness (as opposed to 3), the modern length, and the button interest. But the buttons pull a bit. But that doesn’t seem to be a fit issue... the cloth has that wavy look around the buttons even in the flat stock photo. I’d probably still go with it, because I’m sure I wouldn’t think about it if I wasn’t scrutinising it so intently like now.

ETA: 2 is my next choice ... and also IRL, what I’d be choosing because I keep telling myself to try wearing womanly things, lol
