30 x 30 Challenge So Far - YouLookFab Forum

I am following suit with Joy, Elizabeth P, and LaP.

I have a lot less variety than the other challenge participants. I seem to be wearing a small subset of my capsule with the intent of washing each garment after the second wearing. Each ensemble consists of very few pieces (top, bottom, shoes, earrings). Not needing toppers is a huge advantage I have over some other Forum Members.

I was so concerned about having sufficient items to dress for work, I underestimated what I needed to dress for casual. This was unwise given the activity percentages. However, people see me at work and people do not see me at home so I must have thought it didn’t matter. It did matter especially in light of Joy’s posts about Old Ladies. I don’t want to give the impression that I am lazy or have given up.

Comparison of the pictures led to a very interesting discussion on bras.

The attached spreadsheet shows what I wore and how many times. Earrings are included on the spreadsheet. They are not counted in my 30 x 30 challenge.

What are you talking about, no variety? So you repeated one top, almost repeated the outfit, that's ok. I had short sleeved sweaters with crops pretty much every day.

Really liking #1. And #5 looks great for a vacation day... put together, yet casual and comfy.

OK, I want to hear more about the bra discussion

I certainly don't think you repeated outfits. I repeated three times. (hangs head) This challenge is certainly about learning and we are doing that.

No hanging of heads, Style Fan. We have ALL been exceedingly successful!! This challenge is all about learning about ourselves and our style. I know I've learned a lot in just five days!! Yay for us.

I think you're showing plenty of variety! The olive & navy combo is my favorite, but that vivid pink is also gorgeous on you.

I'm one who thinks that variety is over-rated. There are so many benefits to having a uniform mode of dress. I like these outfits--especially #2 and #5.

I think that there is plenty of variety here. But maybe part of the challenge is learning how much variety you need. I mean, if at the end of the 30 days you are so sick of your items that you want to stomp on them, you have learnt that you might need a few more pieces.

I see lots of variety in your week. Most of the week here was too hot to repeat pieces without laundering, especially when I'd been messing around in a sand box or gardening. No worry for you about old lady hood.

Thank you, RunCarla. What a complement! I think it was the way I was standing. I am still getting used to taking pictures and I haven't quite figured out how to stand in the doorway and still capture the full length image. I also figured out that I need to put the overhead light on in the room behind me to actually be able to see the image.

You're rocking this challenge, Sterling! You have a very tailored and professional and yet relaxed vibe to your outfits. I think your choice of minimal accessories suits the look very well. I especially like the "day off" outfit - so cool and breezy. The proportions look very nice to me.

Oh, BRAS! What a pain! And they do make such a difference in how a particular top or dress fits and looks. I was going to link to my favorite bralet that is thick enough I've never had the nipple "problem", but it seems to be discontinued. The one below seems to be the replacement version. Added advantage that it is doubke-layer merino, so can wear a lot before laundering.
