I have so enjoyed reading all your style reflections, and I've learned so much from them. i'm not by nature analytical about my style, so your deep reflections help to trigger my own and evolve my style - thank you!
I decided to do my own look back at 2019. I tend to look forward by nature - so it was fascinating to see how much I had learned and how much my style had evolved in 2019!
At the end of 2018, I was pretty fed up with what I couldn't fit into anymore - particularly jeans, which were a staple of my wardrobe. I was having a hard time getting dressed in the mornings:

In January, frustrated by my wardrobe, I decided to try a capsule approach to simplify getting dressed in the morning. This worked well and had me play around with the pieces I had (like a rust scarf I fell in love with!), and did indeed simplify getting dressed. But as I said in my thread, I wasn't quite happy with the outfits:

"My style moniker is Urban Luxe. I like sumptuous textures, clean architectural lines, and contrast of textures and styles. Lately I have been going more monochrome but adding a little edge to my style. I've also been incorporating some vintage jewelry.
The following looks are what I've been wearing lately. I like them, but they still don't feel quite right to me. Something seems missing. I think maybe I need to amp up the texture"
I also started taking daily photos of my outfits and this helped me identify what worked and didn't work to my eye. Proportions were very important to me, as was figure flattery, so I took this forward into my dressing: https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....utfit-pics
I started getting into my groove a few months later, incorporating more monochrome looks and menswear influences (particularly brogues), upping the texture and the luxe factor: https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....me-outfits
In April, inspired by @Jaime, I went in a drastic (to me) new direction with my hair - and suddenly, I had a new lease on fashion. I realize that my hair is a HUGE part of my style, and when I don't have a hairstyle that feels like a signature to me, then I don't feel like the best version of myself:

In Spring I decided I wanted to build a rust capsule, building on a rust scarf I had in my capsule wardrobe that I loved. I realized that one that what was missing from the outfits that I found boring was colour - but not the bright, saturated colours I used to do, but the luxe, rich earth tones I was missing.

Then in Spring, @SarahD8 posted about the Style blog Blue Collar Red Lipstick. I loved Adina's use of avatars to define her style and immediately adopted The Prince, The Artist and The Sophisticate as my style personas. This helped immensely in envisioning where I wanted to go.
Also this year, I discovered thrifting - which helped me get the luxe, sumptuous look I was going for without blowing my budget, and also helped me find pants that fit instead of jeans:

With the help of thrifting, I was much happier with my outfits when summer arrived:

In late summer, I had my really big style epiphany - that I had outgrown my jeans and joggers and my neutral-heavy style and was really ready to move into a style direction that was more tailored and full of rich colours:

in ten minutes, I had given away 17 sweaters I had been holding onto for far too long (the is in addition to probably another 50 items I gave away earlier this summer.) I decided that I want to move in a slightly new direction - still neutral heavy, but filled with rich, warm neutrals, continuing with sumptuous fabric and clean lines. I came up with a palette that has been calling to me for the past 18 months or so: adding rust, olive, navy and camel to complement the ivory, grey, blush and black in my wardrobe.
This led to a huge purge, new shopping based on the earth tones, and a new palette: rich earth tones paired with cool neutrals (I called this "Autumn at the Beach")

I've been moving in this style direction ever since, and I must say, I am feeling so *me* and so happy with my wardrobe and my outfits lately. The only pause I have is that I have too much of a good thing with my scooping up of earth tones this fall, so I'm putting the shopping on hold to enjoy what I have.
Whew! I didn't realize what a rollercoaster of a year it had been style wise, and how much I have learned and evolved my style thanks to all of you folks. Here's to a more steady 2020
Below are some outfits from last week - loving the monochrome. And Jaime, I posted a pic of my fair isle handknit sweater for you
