Greetings Fabbers! I'm freshly back from a week of vacation at the cottage. I had very spotty wi-fi so I only got a chance to skim the forum, but the titles of all those Fall wardrobe planning posts got me in the mood!

This Spring/Summer has been great for me  - I've loved what I've been wearing, but I've also had time to let a style change percolate in the back of my mind. In truth, it's been percolating for a year and a half, and now is just coming to the surface.  For the first time in five years, I'm craving a new colour palette and ready to let go of some wardrobe items I'd been hanging on to for years.

I've been spending the past few months shedding clothes that don't speak to me anymore, sitting with my new inspirations and acting on them to build my Fall 2019 wardrobe.

Palette:
I've been very inspired by the earth tones out there (rich rust, golden mustard, clear olive, dark green) - but only when mixed with clear light greys, ivory, light blue, blush, navy and black to make them modern. Luckily my wardrobe for the past few years has been all these neutrals, so these earth tones should fit right in!

See my inspiration pic (taken at the beach one day) below.

Style descriptor:
Urban Luxe. This has really guided me and feels more me than ever. If something is not luxe, I don't buy it. Period. It's made me feel much more 'me' in my clothes.

My style personas:
The Prince: Menswear inspired (obv), architectural, sharp, often dark and moody -- e.g. Tilda Swinton in her menswear looks, Kelly from Alterations Needed (for an edgier version)
usually my winter persona

The Sophisticate - put together, polished, professional e.g. Amal Clooney, Anh from 9-5 Chic

The Artist - architectural but with a nod to artisan designs and fabrics, draping

Outfit formulas:
1) Beautifully cut trousers + silk or knit top with texture or subtle design details + beautifully tailored blazer with an edge/leather or suede moto

2) silk blouse + structured luxe cardigan +  beautifully cut trousers

3) midi skirt + knit or woven top + luxe moto

Requirements of all new purchases:
- must fall into the colour palette above
- must be excellent quality - wool/silk/cashmere and preferably made in USA, Canada or UK
- Must be textural - no flat colours (I live on texture!)
- Must be layerable - I run cold. No exuberant sleeves
- Sleeves must be inset, not dolman - shoulders must fit at shoulder seem (proper tailoring looks luxe to me)
- no synthetic fabrics (polyester, rayon, etc)
- nothing oversized or sloppy

THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to comment on my shopping posts - it really helped to hone down my options and make me keep only the things I really loved and that fit into the above style and personas.

And thank you if you've read this far! I've really been inspired by ALL your WIWs, and your analytical approaches which have informed my thinking.

I'm excited to be on Team Wear this Fall and Winter and see how the new style goes!
