10.9 Autumn inspired. Happy Thanksgiving Canadians!

Such a gorgeous start to our Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend - huge old elm trees on my block are red, yellow, green forming a canopy over the street ; there is a cloudless blue sky, and the temperature is perfect! Inspired to dress in fall colours for a casual work day plus dinner- prep grocery shopping. Olive green mixed media top , deep autumn floral scarf,gold tassel pendant, straight legged jeans, metallic high top sneakers, and my best bag: bought for myself for my 40th birthday - so yes, it's vintage

Hope my fellow Canadians enjoy this lovely long weekend - and get ready to vote next week ! (and not for you-know-who) .

Those shoes were made for this outfit! I have always loved wedge sneakers but have never quite had the courage to give them a try myself. Love this look on you. Seeing the leaves change is the one thing I really miss from when I lived up north…Florida weather is beautiful this time of year but I miss all of the beautiful colors of fall. Enjoy it for me!

In Australia we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but what a wonderful holiday it is - it is always great to reflect on what you have to be thankful for. So happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians too! Your outfit really captures Fall beautifully and what a great bag.

Happy Thanksgiving Lisa and fellow Canucks. Ahhh elm trees! You know there are barely any left here (and the ash trees too). So sad.

My street has a canopy of silver maples and in the fall, at dawn, there is a thick blanket of yellow and red leaves that shroud the road and make it look like we're actually in the woods (vs a 1950's subdevelopment ).

I am definitely voting!

I bought that same random top, in black! This is a great casual fall look. You wear olive well and I like the added pattern of the scarf.

Aw - you guys! I actually just came back to the computer to delete this post because I was upset about....well, never mind. You've reminded me it's more important to be thankful for what we have rather than to lament about the state of our thighs. One thing I have learned from posting as I do is to really , really, check for details like the lengths of things - jeans, sweaters, etc. I rarely try on in stores -because I'm usually moving at high speed in the middle of a work day, and I then try on really quickly at home. This sweater fit across the top, shoulders, sleeves etc, and I neglected to look at how long it was. Seemed ok when I tried it on, but pictures show it needs to be about 4 inches longer to cover , well, you know (crap - those thighs? yikes!) I pulled it down all day long - and am mad at myself for being so careless , but it's the way I shop - and I know it fails as often as it works. Have to change this pattern - ugh. But - the world is a bigger place than this - and vanity issues aren't what I/we need to focus on . Thanks for reminding me of this with your kind words, and your friendship. xo

Karie - thanks for your thoughts, and re: the bag? I bought it new when I turned 40. That's why I'm calling it vintage I had heard some "saying" that by the time you turned 40, every woman should own at least one luxury designer bag. I thought that sounded like a good idea - haha. Purchased at Holt Renfrew - and is the single most expensive thing I've ever bought. I only use it in the winter months, and it still looks as good as new, with the straps having taken on a gorgeous burnished look.

Janet - I know what you mean about the wedge sneakers.....I haven't really worn mine much in the last year or two. But , I bought these at least 5 years ago- before the trend was everywhere, and I've decided I just don't care whether they are "in " or not. These are staying with me
